A Probe... WTF?
Well I was on my way home tonight and cought a light with a '93 GT, a '96 V6 Camaro, and a Probe (don't know what year becaue I've never been interested in them). Anyway, I'm thinking it's going to be a fun race between myself and the '93 but when the light changes the Probe just left us. I'm going to give most of the credit to the driver because right off the line he jumped a good car length on us. I really wasn't too suprised at first, because I never can seem to get off the line, but this thing just kept pulling on me. Granted he didn't just leave me, but he was slowly walking away and by the time we shut down at 80 he had a little over 2 car lengths from me, and the '93 GT was at my door.
Now what the heck was this thing? I'm guessing he must have had a nitrous setup because I couldn't hear a turbo or supercharger (but hearing anything over the roar of 2 mustangs was somewhat difficult). Guess it's time to make my car a bit quicker, Christmas presents for me! Almost forgot... the Camaro shut it down by the top of second, evidently he couldn't keep up. (or didn't want to race) |

I bet you're right about the N2O thing....unless it was a turbo or supercharger like you said but couldn't hear it....try to find him again and ask him what the heck he has done to it!

Probably a 50 to 75 shot of Nitrous...
No problem, just get yourself some giggle gas too. See if he pulls on you THEN....

This guy had a webpage about his probe, and had nitrous and was running low 13's. So I wouldn't feel bad.

Well it certainly was a suprise, I'm just grateful he was a fellow Ford owner and not some riced out Civic. I've been keeping my eyes out for him hoping I can find out what he has done to that thing, but no luck yet.
Thanks for the replies, I wasn't sure if this probe was some sort of rare freak or a common street rival. Sounds like there's quite a few of them running around, so I'm definately going to have to do some work. Think 4.10 gears and a higher stall convertor would do the trick? I don't want to jump straight to nitrous. |
