That's the truth. But if you fix 'em right, they'll hook and go and leave most guys spinning at the line. Of course, if you don't have the balls in the engine after that, they'll catch you about mid-way.

Yup.....0-60 in about 7 seconds. I think a big reason you hear about so many AOD to T5 conversions is the bad reputation the AOD has. In my opinion, going from AOD to T5 is exactly the OPPOSITE of what you really want to do. So your AOD is slow now. Put about $2,500 in it though and it'll be a different story.
AODs, when built right, are tough as nails and can help make any car FLY (with all the right "stuff" in 'em of course) ------------------ Jeff Kane 1990 LX Mustang ex-5.0 Coupe No engine. No transmission. Prepping car for a "big" big-block. http://hometown.aol.com/red514lx/ |

Yeah, mine's an auto, and after a bit of getting squirrely on the line, when it hooks, Ive beat many cars (sticks) when they've just sat there burning up their tires.

I also have an automatic in my mustang.
It seems to me that most people think stick shift's are always faster, but that is not the case. I will admit that stock, a manual is definitely faster than an auto, but I would take my Lentech tranny anyday in traffic or at the dragstrip over a stick. |
