Thumbs up 1st Vette Race Tonight!

Sitting at a light, I see a ~94 vette turn in front of me and take off pretty fast. The light turns green and I play catch up. We catch a red light, and I line up next to them. There were 2 guys in the vette, and I had 3 in my car. The light turns green, and we both take off kind of slow, and finally he goes and flies by me, but I wasnt about to play catch up with him taking the jump. So I wait for him to slow, and I pull alongside him. The passenger puts his arm up and drops it to signal the start, we're going about 65mph at the start, and we ran it up to about 110 with him pulling to about my front fender. I had to let off cause we were coming up on a car in his lane and I didnt want to cause an accident. I was so happy!
At the next light, I said, "looks good, what you got done to it?" The guy responds, "It's got a V8!!! 330hp!"
I was like, "Oh really, a v8 huh?" So I guess it was stock. The guy then told me he dropped it into second, and was amazed I could hang with him. I told him I also had a v8, but only had maybe 280 hp. All in all, the guy was cool, and just having fun. I am really proud of my stang, though, hanging with all but the latest vettes is good in my book.

330 hp? If it was stock the 330 hp Vettes were the Grand Sports, which are blue with black wheels and the two red slashes on the fender, and also all '96 Vettes with the 6-speed came with the 330 hp LT4 motor.

Maybe he did a few bolt-on's and added his "gained" hp to his stock 300. Who knows. either way congrats and good run. It's always nice to dust a Vette.

I raced a vette Friday night and actually beat him it was an 88 vette and I beat him by a full second off the tree and ended up winning by half the track and I only ran a 15.35 @89 he ran a 15.9 @88 slowest vette I have ever seen.

I know its a pathetic win but it was the highlight of my night

LT1 vettes are a joke unless they're modded.

Vettes from like 71-91 also sucked. The LT1 was an improvement, but in those years you really needed a ZR-1 to be fast.

Congratulations on the run though!

MAn, i cant wait to get a 5spd in my stang and start smoking cars, im running a stock 3spd in my 66 and it does well until 3rd, if i dont have a good lead at 3rd, they catch up. I just finished putting a centerforce clutch though to help out my launches. My cousins neighbor just bought what i believe was an 84 vette, the last year of a stingray is all i remember, bhe is a cool guy, so i hope he doesnt get bitter when i smoke his car, heh heh

It was a light silver vert with red leather interior. There were some odd looking badges on the sides too. I dont think it was a grand sport, but my friend had a 96 vette, and this one looked different.

Also, I didn't dust him by any means, but I was just glad I could stay on his *** like I did.
