Post '99 Cobra convert goes down

Today on my way to work, I was stopped at a light, and low and behold, a '99 SVT Cobra turned out (running the yellow I might add) onto the road in front of me. As soon as the light went green I nailed it and gave chase, knowing the next set of lights ALWAYS turns red (they're on cue). There's one open lane so I pull up to him on his passenger side.
It was a black (I'm assuming '99 since the '01's are just starting production) convertible with a tan interior, and I was drooling Such a pretty car. He glanced over to me, and I looked straight at him and it was on.
The light turned green and I nailed it in 1st gear hard, pulled a car or so, hit 2nd hard with a nice howl and pulled another car lenght, shifted to 3rd with a chirp and held him off (at this point I was watching to see if he was reeling me in but it didn't seem like it), and when I hit 4th I started to pull a touch more but that's when I shut down (about 85 mph).
I don't think he was a terrible driver, but he certainly wasn't the best. Either way, a win is a win! I was very excited after that to say the least
It sounded so nice when I let off and he went screaming past me (had my window down). One of those with 4.30's would be a beast Finally I found a good car to race!! Spring is here
