Post '66 and 5.0 Cobra run even

Sunny 75 degree day in Houston. I had been out cruising for almost an hour when I saw the yellow vert 5.0 Cobra behind me at the light. We were in the left lane. I started out just fast enough to get ahead of the other cars and pulled into the right lane and stayed at 20 so he could get up beside me. I new when we were even that we would go and sure enough we did. He got a slight jump of maybe a 1/4 car liength. We ran up to 60-70 before we had to let off due to traffic ahead. At that time we were dead even. There was quite a bit of traffic so We didn't try again. I waved and he just smiled back. Now this was a vert and there were two guys in the car, so I had some weight advantage. It was a good race. Just wish we could have done it from a standing start. First good run I've had in a while.

Sounds like a good run. Hopefully i can get my 66 up to around your times...just takes time and money to build it up. Way to keep 'em respecting the oldie.

1966 Baby blue Coupe, 289 w/ man. 3-speed, nothing special but the fact that it is my first mustang. I am a former import guru....no more.

I've never run it except on the street, it has new wheels & tires, new exaust, and that about covers it. Looking to change a lot in the future including engine. Any ideas are appreciated.

Thumbs up

Good job Rev ! Way to represent us "pre-space age" vehicles. I have a hard time getting people to play They get about a car length behind me and then back off. With the X pipe my car sounds like a Trans Am series race car.

Sounds like fun... wish I could get some races while the weather was nice... now it's raining again and I see a t/a and a ls1 on the way home from school. Just curious did they make a 5.0 vert cobra? I thought they only made them in hardtop.

They made the vert Cobra's with a 5.0 in the
sn95 body. The 94 was the indy pace car only
in red. I am not sure of the colors for 95
but I thought the yellow was not re
introduced until 98. They had the 93 lx5.0
yellow w/ white or black top. Could have
been what I call the want to be's.

Either way it was a good race,Rev.

94 Thunderbird SC: only mod is a K&N air filter. But she runs very well and hard.

Rev - I haven't been able to take it to the track yet. Currently it has 225/50-15 tires which I can pretty much light up at any speed. I am going to 17's and adding my traction bars. I was going to take it to the Carlsbad event, but without any traction its pretty silly. I will definately post when I get some times (I'm planning a dyno run also as soon as I get the car set up the way I want).
