Post Carlsbad resutls from the huge so cal gettogether.

The meet was HUGE!! It consisted of ME and ED. Yeah, you read it right, ME and ED. Nonetheless we had fun and Ed ripped of some great ET's.

I didnt get my 410's installed in time and Sky couldnt make it so I ran on bald *** tires and 355 gears.

I hit a 14.005 @ 102.4 mph on a shitty 2.24 60ft. Im beginning to think that this thing will NEVER hit a ******* 13.

Ed's vert fox bod with a Cold air kit and a 150 shot ran a 13.7 @ 98mph on a 2.0 60ft with his 275 BFG Drag Radials. He may have done even better after I left.

What's the altitude at that track? What was the weather like? Where's your peak power at? What rpm do you shift at?

102mph should be good for at least mid 13s with a little traction. There used to be a guy around here that had a bolt-on 94-95 GT (5-speed, stock heads/cam, 3.55 gear, cobra intake) that went 13.6s@99.X on street tires. This was at Norwalk which is really close to sea level. With good traction you should see at least low 13s.

I ran a 13.6 while you were still there..you were a little mad at the time though and were leaving. my bottle was cold and couldn't get above 900 psi...it dropped down to 800 and I stopped running

had a great time though! tons of stangs there and had 5 wins out of 5 races including beating a 2001 trans am. (gotta love those drag radials!) jesse, you have TOO much power for those tires! Too bad more ppl didn't show up...

Carlsbad is AT sea level or maybe even a tad below and the weather was around 70 degrees. Its just not the best track for traction. I was speedshifting at around 5800. I think my trac loc is dust though because Im only doing one wheel burnouts and my RR drag radial is bald as hell while the other still has some meat on it.

Im going to rebuild my rear and stab the 410's in and head back to the track with some ET streets and a 125 shot. Later guys.

I think I might get an off road shortie x pipe instead of this H pipe w cats and finaly put a cold air kit on it too.

5800rpm is pretty high for a b303 cam on a fuel injected car. Where did you make peak hp on your dyno chart? Have you tried shifting at 5200rpm or 5500rpm?

Question

I thought the b cam was for carbed vehicles and the x and e was for efi. I know very little so just ignore me.

The smog legal GT40 lonblock comes with a B303 cam from the factory and is intended for fuel injected use as a swap for a tired FI 5.0 Although Im sure it works great on carbed cars, I have heard this a few times. The X303 cam is too large for my piston to valve clearance. The F cam should clear and I may swap to that one later.

The only reason I purchased the B cam was because I liked that it had 2 more degrees of duration than the smog legal E cam. Typicaly longer duration helps out in the top end where I wanted more power but now that I have done everything I wish I would have gone with the F cam.

Ed, I wasnt mad at all, I had fun and really enjoyed being there. I just didnt see the point of beating on my car anymore after I hit a 2.49 60 ft and traction was just getting worse. I did leave kinda abruptly though, please excuse me.

I wish I coulda gone. My car has an electrical deamond I cant find. 2 weeks ago the starter wouldnt' stop disengaging, then finally the whole thing shut down. A total powerdown. I cant seem yet to track down why. And it sat out in the rain w/ the windows down one morning. Im redoing all the interior, just because it needed it anyways.

Ed you only went 98mph on the 150 shot? Thats 7-8 mph less than normal! If so jesse, you got like 107 traps.

Hey Sky....I know your problem. I had the same thing happen to me. Mine was a fuseable link that came from the starter selonoid. I had to take it in to a electrical car shop to have it fixed because electronics and me are like oil and water . You might try that.

fastang- you should be up in the 105-106's with your car and hp. Maybe the track??

sky: yeah, she was running a bit slow. I know the trap drops when you get more traction but I was only pulling 2.0's the whole time.

I think a lot of it had to do with my bottle being a little cool and me not performing maintenance like I should (havent cleaned my k+n in like 7 months!) and a lot to do with me just not driving like I should. Sometimes I puss out and not drive it hard enough...got to fix that

I was thinking...I may not be rvving high enough in third...maybe I will try taking her to 5600-5700 before hitting 4th...at 5100 she is still pulling but I know as soon as I hit 5800 she falls FLAT on her face..hmmmmm
