Default 5.0 vs. Charger r/t

Me and my buddy were driving around this last saturday night, and i see this beautiful 70 Dodge Charger R/T, some kid driving it, Weld Draglites, traction bars. im a few cars back in another lane and hes chirping the tires at the stop lights. So i decide i wanna race this guy, what the hell right? So i pass the car in front of me and i get a stop light next to this charger. Light turns green i slowly go off the line, im thinking man, he aint taking it, so i jump on it a little bit and slow down again, so he guns it, peels em, i jump on the gas. we are flying down the street, i pull hard on em get about 3 car lengths, and im expecting this thing to kill me. I just keep pulling on this guy, we kill it at about 85, the guy takes the first turn off he has a chance at. I was o happy with my 5.0, man i love my car.

Not all Chargers have Vin Diesel driving them.

it sounds like a nice car. Good race too.

He might have been in the works on that car. it might have just had the origional engine and hes building one, or planning on building on.

yeah, that's what im thinking, if he was doing some work on it, it was definitely all motor work, the body and everything was in great shape. It was a really nice car, im glad that i got to race a real car for once, im sick of people racing me in 4 door honda civics...

It wasnt very loud at all, just a little bit louder than my car, and it is all stock. I don't think the guy was running a 440 mag under the hood. Im pretty sure it was a small block.

*scratches head*

i've never seen a 340 charger........seen numerous 318's, numerous 383's, several 440's, and even a hemi or two.........and some 360's on some from a few model years later,

but i cannot recall ever seeing a 340 charger

No they didnt come with 340's or 360's. It was prob a 318 in it. Thats prob why you won that race. Hell, you could've got out and ran faster than the thing. Though a 318 is a good motor if done rite and in a much lighter car. Like a 3000# A-body.

Default R/T?

Were there '70 Charger R/T 318's? Not sure what the R/T stood for. The '70 Charger was a pretty heavy car for the 318, wasn't it? Just asking really.

Yes they were heavy esp. for a 318. Was it an R/T or a clone, or a stock resto car? Even a mildly modded 440 would be a problem. Did u look under the hood? You said it was a kid so I can only imagine. No there wernt any 318 '70 charger R/T's

R/T= Road/Track if my waning penstar knowledge is correct.

I think of it as Rapid transit.. lol

M=move
O=over
P=plymouth
A=approaching
R=rapidly

Take it from a former mopar guy. It is said R/T and was older than a 73 it was a 440 regardless of the body style. Only the 440 carried the R/T badge. If it is not a 440 then the badge is not origional.
