SNAKE VS.MODDED 99 Z28 LS1
I finally got to run against a modified LS1 from a light.
Cruising on the highway I see the familiar lights of the Z28 coming up beside me. He passes by and this car had one tough sounding exhaust. We paced each other on the freeway with traffic and held off racing because we both knew what was coming..one traffic light that opens up to a 1/4 mile run to the next light. It was perfect, well almost. As we were coming up to the light, the light turned before we got to it. We eased up to each other and went from a 5 mph roll. He even tried to cheat a little by taking off before I got to his door. We took off and he jumped out on me and held that half car lead on me through 1st gear and I ran into my rev limiter, which sucked but I quickly shifted to 2nd and started pulling on him. I pulled on him through 2nd, gaining a car and a half and kept pulling on him through 3rd gear to about 3 cars or so to 85-90. This was the best part. He pulled up at the next light and his girlfriend said I cheated. I was like what?? You guys even left before me.. The guy driving was cool and we talked really quick. He said not to listen to her even as she was trying to get me to race again in a 40 mph zone.. He told me he dyno'd at 322 at the wheels with most of the basic mods for the LS1. He also said he usually beats mostly all the Cobras and GT's that he comes across. Believe me EZ, I hate always posting about highway races but where I live, there are hardly any lights or enough road to race where these lights are. Now that I have switched jobs, the way to and from work has many traffic lights, so I'm sure I'll run into more than a few stoplight drags.
