Thumbs down Killed my motor at the track....BAD NEWS!!!

Hey guys, long time no post. I just fthought I'd let you all know that my 306 went buh-bye. I was at the track and about 2.3rds down the track, I detonated the hell outta my motor. I don't know what happened. I had my retard set at 3 just incase, because It was kinda hot. I think bad gas. Anyhoo, I burned my #7 piston and blew a hold the soze of a pencil in the top of it. I can't believe it is one piece still. The funny part is that I still ran a 13.157@109.43...but I shut it down before the 1000ft mark and coasted through. Street tires too.

Oh well, I guess I will have to put that 347 crank sitting in my garage to use

Peace Yo

Damn, that sucks Dustin atleast it didn't trash anything else like the blower or heads.

So are you going to go build a 347? Nice time on slicks with a little morer mph it should go 10's, did you get the boost thing figured out?

Good Luck

Yeah I am glad it didn't trash anything else. And yes I am building the stroker. I also just sent my heads to CNC to have a stage 3 job done. I matched that to the Stage 3 Holley I bought about a month ago that is just sitting in my garage. I am hoping for good numbers. I am also looking at the TFS #3 cam also.

I also did figure out my boost problem. I had a hole in the vacuum hose.

I would strongly suggest looking at one of Anderson Blower grinds for that new combo. His cam did a ton for my combo. I can't imagagine a Stage III Holley as it already flows way to much. My heads are going to TEA this winter for a Stage II port job should come back with over 300cfm intake and 2xxcfm should make a difference I hope.

Glad to see it was only a vac leak causing all that lost boost, so how much do you actually see now?

Good Luck
