Post Porsche Boxter

I was on my way home Friday night when a yellow Boxter come up next to me at the light, we were both turning left. When the light changed he took off so I followed. The road we were on is a curvey road with a few small straight areas. As we go though the turn into the longest straight stretch we both gun it, I was up in 4th gear at this time and turned the volume up on the loud pedal. He was keeping up with me but I was gaining more and more lead. By the time we had to shut down aproaching the turn I had 1/2-3/4 car lead on him. At the light after the curve he had his arm out the window with his thumb up. I dropped my window and he said nice ride, I told him his was nice too. I told him he's better set up for the corners, he replied with "yea, I'll kick your a$$ in the corners but you'd kick mine on the straight." Over all this guy was cool and it was my best encounter yet.

Nitrous Al:
I couldn't find any data on what the Boxster runs in the quarter mile but I did find some other info.
From Motor Trend Online:
0-62 mph 5.9
0-100 mph 13.8
Base curb weight, lb 2855
Horsepower: 252 @ 6250rpm
Torque: 225 @ 4500rpm

That's the S version Boxter and it runs very high 13's at about 100 if driven correctly in a drag race.

The standard version Boxter is a nice car, but not really fast. 14.7 at about 93 in the 1/4 mile.

I beat one of these standard Boxters about a year ago by at least 10 lengths on the street.

Most of these guys won't stage high enough RPM's to get the most from their cars. They're afraid of hurting them (legitimate concern).

C'mon guys, let's keep the record straight. Boxsters are not a $80k car, but around $50k. 911s are $80k. Also, hurting the engine is a legitimate concern? Porsches run forever. You can beat on them all day and they only ask for more.

Actually, I was thinking more about the rest of the drivetrain rather than the engine. Don't Porsches have weak clutches? I doubt they will withstand many 4000 RPM launches, which is what you'd need to do for the best time slip.

Unit, let's not confuse one person's interpretation of a **** *** clutch as necessarily being weak. I've been fortunate enough to drive numerous 911s, which you must be referring to as they can be awd not boxsters, and I will just say the clutches are different, definitely heavy duty. I wouldn't say weak but the cars are a ***** to launch. You have to remember, Porsches are endurance cars, not drag racers. Don't get me wrong, I do not like the boxsters, but 911s are sweet.
