Post My car is RUNNING! - dyno results

I took her to Swansons to get it dynoed and a custom chip. The car was seriously screwed up. every time I pressed the clutch in the rpm's would fly up to 2-3 grand and stick there untill the car came to a complete stop...then it would die or idle wayy up there at 1500 or so.
These guys work drivability miracles. I gained nearly 15 hp at the wheels from thier chip and the car runs like its stock! No more horrible surging or sticking idle or ANY of that sh!t and they even cleaned out my TB and MAF since my car was sucking oil before. I had cleaned it once but apparently they found a little more. Top notch work.

Anyway heres the numbers. If you remember, before I installed the injectors, heads, and intake, my car hit 229RWHP and 299RWT. Today my car hit 281.6RWHP and 289.9RWT So by installing a set of TFS heads, a Holley intake, and 30lb injectors I gained about 53hp and LOST 10lbs of torque! Im happy with the car but if I had it all to do again and had my money back I would have bought a Novi or a Vortec. Oh well, Time for slicks and nitrous

Sounds like resonable gains except for the torque I would have expected a gain and maybe 20 more horse or so, but not bad. I really think your cam is holding you back I would look into a better FI cam, the B303 seems pretty geared torward carb cars.

Im not dissapointed. Sky said that he thought his car gained hp after his heads broke in...maybe the same will happen for me? Im just glad the car is drivable again. The car also probably had a little oil pooled in the intake and heads that will have to burn off over time. Im sure once it all burns away I will gain a few HP. I just want to see how she performs on the track.

My new motor seems to gain power by the day it has about 1400 miles on it and every time I drive it it feels faster so Yes maybe you will gain some power as time goes on. Have you had your car to the track yet?

I also need to get a computer chip but I want to wait tell I order my 70MM TB and Trick flow Track heat intake.

Jesse- That is really awesome. That is just the post I was hoping to hear, but actually not expecting.

289rwhp should get you 106-107mph traps. Those are good numbers, and IM sure you can break 300rwhp with a different cam.

What were you A/F ratios before and after? How much fuel pressure did you end up using? Where was your peak hp at? And how much timing did they end up running for peak power.

My car has some drivability issues, they aren't horrible, but it sure would be nice to get rid of them.

How much did it all cost you?

And when do you wanna hit carlsbad?

Don't forget, that 53rwhp is equal to almost 65 at the crank.

I'm glad to hear everything is kickin *** now!!

Good to here man!

You should put up a good fight against some LS1's and WS6's now! Make sure you post your first kill, and give lots of details about how surprised the guy was when you kicked his *** !

Sky, how much fuel pressure are you running with the vacuum hose off?

Thanks.

I was running 50, when I got my "Dyno tune" He took me to 26. I think my whole dyno experience was BS. I have it back at 39 right now cuz I'm Running n20, and it runs great.

What kind of N2O are you running? Wet or dry? Why only a 80 shot? I am looking at running a 150 shot of NX which is a wet kit. Also I will be ordering the Eibach prolaunch kit and 90/10 probably this week did you have to cut your front springs?

nice numbers fastang I'm glad they worked all the bugs out of it! We'll have to race each other some time as we are making pretty close to the same hp levels I think it would be a fun race! I should be getting my cams back from crane pretty soon so that should get us dead even again congrats!

fastang- Did you use my idea for the dyno tune?

What ever you do, DON'T CUT THE FRONT EIBACH SPRINGS it defeats the geometrey behind the springs stored energy.

Glad to hear things worked out. So what was the fuel pressure and timing?

Honestly guys, I dont know where he put my timing and fuel pressure but thanks for all the kind remarks. I dropped the car off in the morning before work and picked it up after work when they closed. I wasnt there for the whole deal. I was hoping for a few more hp but WTF, I plan on getting a CHP 347 shortblock with a much much larger cam in about a year. This 302 is just to tide me over for now and I plan on sqeezing a 100 shot within the next 2 months as well.

Sky, Ed, and 46stang, lets go to Carlsbad next weekend. Can I still use your slicks Sky? My drag radials are starting to get bald. If I dont run a 13 now this motor NEVER will....I dont think theres anything else I could to to this thing without modifying my shorblock.

Im running a Nitrousworks wet kit. Im going upto a 150 shot when I get the fuel pump to handle it. I only have a 190lph right now. Yeah dont cut the drag launch prings, that defeats their purpose.

We should both be deep in the 11's soon.

Jesse, ed, leon, you guys wanna go the 13th? Im gonna be up north this weekend, on the 6th. AAnd yeah you can use the slicks.

Also my Nitrous is working now!

First, nice job on the numbers.

Second, you should definately be deep into the 13's - if not, I'll fly out there and drive it!

Seriously though, my coupe made 290RWHP and 312RWTQ about 9 months ago (before alum. fly and custom burnt chip) and I have gone several 106 mph runs. I think my 3.55 gears are holding me back a little.

Again, nice job! Let us know what it runs.
