New Celica.. I know but he really asked for it,,
Heading out to the bar last night, I notice some Ricer car is tailgating me and pissing me off at the same time. I'm coming up to the light and I notice it is a new Celica and he pulls next to me. With his girlfriend in the car, he gives me this strangely confident look and starts revving the fart pipes up. I just put my new Y2k Cobra R's on yesterday too so I wanted to test out the 9.5 inch wide rims with the Khumos on launch.
-I don't even rev the engine before the Light changes. I bog a little, then catch some traction after a bit of spin and then proceed to destroy this Celica GT by close to 10 cars by 80 or so in 3rd gear. This piece of crap does the traditional fly-by once we get on the highway. I still don't understand that move. I know nothing special about this kill but it made me laugh so.. ------------------ formerly 96cobra89lx306 (96Cobra/softtop-3.73,almdrvsht,fancontrl,steeda sbfrmes+shifter,eibachspgs,KYB's,FR-upper arms,Y2K Cobra R's,pulleys,Bassani X pipe(off-road),C&L 80mm,Amsoil etc.. 93 Ford Probe Gt- will be sold by next week.. A kill is still a kill, and he was asking for it! I wonder how impressed his girl friend was...

No this was the GTS. I just forgot the S. If it would have been the lower model GT, I would have been a mile ahead at the end of this race. I like the top of the line GTS and this car was sharp looking but he should pick on cars in his league.
Just to put this in perspective. My Probe GT runs right around 15 flat/90+mph. I would say that I would kill my Probe as badly as this Celica. I wish I was in the GT actually. That would have been a good race. [This message has been edited by 96SNAKE (edited 09-09-2001).] |

It all depends. 96-98 Cobras ranged between mid 13's to high 13's at around 101mph with some freaks running better here and there and some particularly slow cars in the 14's. My car was strong out of the box so I figure it was good for mid 13's. With my mods, I know it is a very low 13 sec car on street tires and would be good for 12's on slicks. It dyno'd at 301 at the wheels a while back but the car has been blowing smoke(probably bad valve seals or rings) and I'm now down to 282rwhp on my last dyno. It's still quick but not quite what it used to be. A new 2001 Cobra will run 13.30's on radials at best and should be good for 12's on slicks. Stock, they are hitting the dynos to the tune of 273+ rwhp. Not bad at all..
Just in case anyone wants to find out what the quicker Cobras are running or if you just think I'm just full of crap, Go over to www.corral.net (in the modular section) and you'll see a lot of fast GT's and Cobras there. There just aren't that many Snakes on this board. [This message has been edited by 96SNAKE (edited 09-10-2001).] |

Yeah, those GT-S drivers think they are fast, but they only got it up in their 6th gear. They can mostlikely go up to a top speed of 150 pretty easliy. GTSs can do like 15.6 secs in the 1/4 mi.
That "flyby" is just a dumbazz thing... mostlikely out of anger and frustration. Anyways, u killed him, AHHAHHAH! =D ------------------ -Buzz *Soon to have a 1997 GT* and... 2001 PY Integra Type-R |

Yup, and heh, heh, heh, for that 150 mph too. Aren't these all 4 bangers? Maybe 150-160 flywheel HP max?
