Post This just keeps getting better....

Went to the track yesterday for some testing & tuning, on a spur of the moment kind of thing. Alot of my friends were going & I haven't gone out just to test & tune yet this year.

It turned out to be a picture perfect day for drag racing. Low 70's, sunny, with a nice tail wind. The track was hooking like a gangster!

Well, I only got 2 runs in, because on my second run, I ran my best ever of 10.784 @ 133.92!!!!!!

After that, I was on cloud 9! I had a 1.684 60', my best ever 1/8 @ 7.064 @ 104mph.

I didn't want to push my luck anymore that day. A friends car blew the rear end on a launch with his ET streets, and another guy in our group shredded his blower belt. I thought that I better save my car for the drive home. I was happy enough with the results!

For your combination, that is one insane mph!! You have to be making 600hp easily. How much boost are you running?

Excellent mph!

Thanks guys... I'm still kind of in shock at that ET & mph...

My blower still has the pulleys on it that came from Paxton (10rib) & I make 10-12 psi of boost.....

You still run a Motorsport cam too right? It goes to show you don't need a bunch of exotic parts to run the numbers. Is your shortblock the original for the car?

If it is that biatch is just beggin' to be split down the middle!!!!

Congrats!!!

killer times! runnin b cam?, i knew it, i argued with a guy that said that cam would suck with a blower, what an idiot.

yea, i know of a guy over here, (blkrain may know who im talking about) he owns a shop, but was running 650 hp on a stock 302 block, s-trim) he did eventually split the block down the center, but it lasted longer than expected, and went 10.1's, now he has an r302 347 now, with forged internals, and all the stronger parts, expecting 9's.

Sisu, what's your secret?!?! I'd say a majority of the cars with your combo are running 116-124mph. You are running 10mph faster than that!

I've seen setups run 134mph, but they had 20lbs of boost running through their S-Trim/Novi 2000. You run 10-12 lbs.

I have a few ?s regarding this setup that might help me to understand how you achieved that wicked mph.

1. How long have you had this combo together?

2. Are the intake and heads ported?

3. Has it been dyno tuned? If so, what were the numbers before and after?

4. What was your mph the very 1st time out with that combo? (1st time out assuming car was running reasonably well, i.e., no major problems w/ the combo)

Really, the dyno numbers would tell me what's going on. As I've said in previous posts, your car has to be making AT LEAST 600hp at the crank to run those mph numbers. I would think 600hp is very tough to achieve w/ that combo. Most similar combos turn 475-525hp.

Regardless, great runs!

Red514LX -some A's your Q's

1 - I've had this combo on the car since the spring of 2000.

2 - My heads are fully ported, O-ringed, on studs, etc. My Cobra upper was cut open to be fully ported & rewelded shut. The lower has weld added to the runners for more room to port.

3 - This combo hasn't been on the dyno, yet.

4 - The first time I had this combo at the track, back in April 2000, I ran 124mph. I was letting off in the traps because my shift light was coming on too early. I was only using my 245/50/16 Nittos at the time (26" tall). After that, I went to the 275/60/15 BFG's (28" tall).

Last season, I would usually run around 128 mph. Since last year, I've dropped some weight with a tubular K-member, coil over front springs, & I've moved the battery to the trunk. I've also removed the power steering & put a Flaming river rack on.

The scales said 3150 last time I was weighed with 3/8's of a tank of fuel & me in the car. I think that the scale is off because I have weighed in at 3115 & 3175 in the same trim on the same scale!

These past couple of times at the track, I have been launching at 4000 to 4500 due to excellent traction. I have usually rode the clutch out of the hole in the past due to limited tracton...My mph seems to go up as my ET goes down....
