Post need advice...

I have a 1988 GT with a t-top roof. It's a 5 speed and mostly stock with almost 188,000 miles. I have a few questions...
1. I have a stress crack in the frame by the windshield. What can I do to stiffen the structure and prevent further damage?
2. I want my car to accelerate better, so I'm thinking about new gears. I'm pretty sure I have a 2.73 rear, and I bought 3.73 gears for it. I do a lot of highway driving, so will the 3.73's be ok or should I swop them for 3.55's or something lower?
thanks for the help

get a pair a sub-frame conectors to stop all that flex. With stock 225/60/16 tires(i think thats right) and a .68 over-drive(i think thats right too) you will turn 2243 RPMs at 70 MPH with 3.73s. You will turn 2134 RPMs at 70 MPH with 3.55s.

Thanks, I think I'll go with the 3.73 gears. Does anyone know where I can find the gear for the speedometer so it won't be thrown off?
