Post Had to put the smak down on a 4.6 GT

Was out hanging with my homie last friday night doing some club hopping. Pulled up to a light and there's this sweet 2001 Gt sitting there, red with chrome Cobra R's very sweet. I look over there's two guys in it. They look at my car start talking and then look at it again. I've been wanting to race one of these new GTs for a while now, so I tell my friend "if he wants some, its on." Light turns green we both just ease out staying right next to each other. About halfway thru the intersection he jumps in it, I hear him so I jump into mine. Thru first, is front bumper was at my door. Hit second and pulled him hard, put another car and half on him up to about 60, then shut it down. At the next light they just stayed behind me. I had to show him what the 5.0 was all about. R-E-S-P-E-C-T that goes for you LT1's and LS1's as well.

Well, good kill, and welcome to the board. You will soon learn that the 4.6 is about respect too, though. Some guys here are running mid to high 13's with em, stock. There are also a couple here who are in the 12's NA. As soon as the aftermarket can support the 4.6 the same as the 5.0, there's gonna be trouble ! But again, nice car, good kill.

Good kill. Welcome to the board. Don't forget us old classic guys either though. We can still give somebody a run for his money now and then.

EZRIDN That's true just as I left and lay some rubber at MOROSO for me.

You'll enjoy South Fla. I did and the race can be real intense.

Watch out for the sleepers that STEEDA has running around there. More 5.0s than 4.6s.

Great numbers Mustang92!!!

Hey Rev, I'm moving to Dallas in about 6 months or so, I might have to come down and check out your car. I'd like to meet other classic guys too.

Hey bigsnake should be runnin real low 13's with those mods. That'll show any stock 4.6L some taillights pretty easy.

If you take the Gen II 4.6L and throw some gears and traction on it, add exhaust and underdrives, now you're talking a race.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I must say I have respect for all muscle cars. It was just the smug look on those guys faces when they looked at my car. It was almost like the arrogant look that a lot of LS1 guys have. If all goes well in the next year,I hope to add some AFR heads, custom cam, and some DR's so that I can wipe that look off thier face.

Cool. No there is no emission testing anymore and love it. I hated swapping out H-pipes for an hour. I'm out at the track just about everyone Wednesday and Friday unless I'm at the FFW races.

Why is it so hard for people to believe that the new 260 HP 4.6 can make runs mid 13's with a good driver?

Seems like people are scared of the 5.0 and other pushrod engines getting knocked off the power throne.

Something I noticed, LT-1 and prior guys dont really mind all that much losing to my old 64 1/2, but they absolutey hate loosing to a 4.6L, why is that.

And you should see a drivers face thats driving an LS-1 as you edge by him. Its priceless.

On guy in a FireBIrd early LS-1 was so suprised he gazed at me with his Jaw kinda sagging, and he hit the REV-Limiter wich made him drop way back.

So at the race track with a headlight removed a personal best time is 13.69 with a newer GT.

bigsnake's car should run LOW 13's.

Damn it gets annoying. But hey, I guess technically a one time 13.69 makes a mid 13 car. Just like a 12.99 makes the LS-1's 12sec cars with good driving. Hell, since I've beaten a couple of those, means I've got a 12sec near stock 87GT WHOO HOO!!! I'm fast.

Unit, I'm sorry, I was under the impression that Lizard King made consistant runs like that. I didnt know it was a one time pass. But he's not the only one pulling #'s like that.

Yep, Lizard just pulled off a 13.66. Which makes it the 2nd time he's run a 13.6x. Still took him all day to get that time too. He runs a lot of low 13.7's, with the headlight out, which he testify's add's 10hp.

In street form his car is probably, on average, a 13.80 car at the track.

Lizard's car is a 13.7 car for a normal run. High 13's. Based on 13.0-13.33, 13.34-13.67,13.68-13.99.

Yep, lots of people run high 13's with the new GT's stock, not mid 13's.
