Give me a chance to stop laughing from that Croc-hunter guy, and I might be able to form a complete thought!!!
I love to race. Plain and simple. Wether it's an import 4 banger or an all out strip car, a race is just a race. Most times I just pull out of my driveway( I live on a very long very straight road in the country)and practice, I guess that's the right word, my launches and shifts. I'm not one to jump on anything that comes around, but I won't back down either. Fighting over who's car is the best is just silly. Even if I lose, I want to have a beer and just talk to whoever I raced and shoot the crap. Beer optional. Either way, it's all about fun right? |

I think it's the uncertainty too, as well as the respect for the blood, sweat and tears put into our bottomless pit. Imports are especially fun to beat and SPRAY!!(lol)

My father in law is in the process of building a Mercury Zepher/FR500/427 Cobra/Sleeper. If that's possible to imagine. Needless to say, I will not be making fun of him when he's driving it. HEH HEH!! It should be fun to take to the track!!

My dad has a Zepher. 1979 with the 3.3L inline 6. It's cream yellow with piss yellow interior. I think he drives it because the car gets more looks (albeit strange ones) than a Ferrari.
He enjoys street racing with it. Those 18 wheeled gravel trucks are usually fair game, but if they are empty he has problems with them, seriously! |

The people that are scared of Cobras and not scared of GT's are the same people that thought that a 5.0 GT was automatically faster than a LX 5.0 just because of the GT.
Sure cobras do have some factory mods, but those things are standard for any self respecting stanger in a non-cobra. ------------------ 67 Fastback - Arctic White Pearl paint 351W ,Trick Flow Aluminum Heads, Edelbrock TorkerII, Comp. Is a stock Cobra much quicker than a stock GT in the 1/4? I was always told that they would run fairly close stock. However, after the same bolt ons or engine mods I heard the Cobra responds a lot better. How would my 96 GT stand up against its Cobra counterparts? What else should I do to make my GT give them hell?
By the way, anyone heard of putting the 99+ GT heads onto an pre-99 GT. How much gain could be expected from such a move. |

Waldo, A 96 GT hits low 15's and the 96 Cobra hits a low 14. Its a full second faster...quite a lot. I could be wrong and will probably get flamed up the a$$ here but I think the 94-95' 5.0 Cobras were only about 3 tenths quicker than the 94-95 GT.

Waldo, the 99+ GT heads wiil fit,(Read newest MM&FF)and you can expect a 10-20 hp gain.
Fastang...meanie!! The 94-95 GT's are about .5sec slower than the same year Cobra. I think. Could be wrong, but I don't think so. ------------------ 1989 GT- Vortech blown 306, Anderson 3" power pipe, Vortech S-Trim 14# boost, MSD-6BTM, black wrinkle finish Cobra valve covers(woohoo), world class T-5, 3.55 gears, custom sub-frame connectors, Cobra grille insert and rear valance, Saleen "whale" wing, 4 wheel disc conversion, 11.1@124 1994 Cobra- MAC cold air fender kit, Motorsport underdrive pulley's, MAC 21/2" off-road H pipe, SVO mufflers, 3.73 gears, E-303 cam, 13.417@101.335mph |

I've noticed, the pasted couple of days, that the general public thinks that a cobra is automatically a cobra r. People have seen my car and say "You got a cobra r?! SWEET!". This has happen twice in the past 2 days! Umm.. this car is a convertible. Most people, is seems, don't know the difference between a cobra r and a hole in the ground! LOL

I will race anyone who is up for it. I only rev at cars that look like they might race (camaros, corvettes, porsches etc). I really think that a race is a race, its all fun, of cours I also drive a stock 90 convert AOD so my car isn't that fast....but even though I know I will lose a lot of races, its fun.

Hey unit,
You're right about giving those gravel trucks a run for their money...when i had my zephyr (3.3L) i showed them my taillights. I raced a guy at my work who had a 19.5 sec civic and i almost beat him with the "zeph". Cool car (yes, i'm weird) but not too fast. I was going to put a 351 in it, but then i realized that it was a zephyr....needed to buy a mustang. |
