Should I do it?
There's this 80's model Crown Victoria/Grand Marquis for sale. Big 4 door rig. Guy's asking $650 for it. Shoud I buy it and make it into something it's not? I was thinking like NOS on the 302, headers, gears, cam; all that nice stuff. The ultimate sleeper (other than a 460 powered hearse). I wanna hear what y'all say!

Now that was not nice FivepointOH. Didn't your mom teach you " if you can't say something nice, blah, blah blah"

Dang PKRWUD. What are the specs on that monster? I saw it and just started thinking about an early 80's model Fairmont or Granada (or one of their Mercury counterparts), put a 385 series engine in it, and be ok. Maybe hook up some NOS to it too. I've seen a Mustang GT with an engine like that. It had a Powerglide on it and went mid 9's in the quarter. Just my thoughts.

There are a couple of Notch backs with GM motors in them around here. I cant really knock them though they are both running 9's.

I screwed up on what I said in the post. First off, the GT I saw was in MM&FF (I forgot which issue). It was a 460 bored .030 over. My mistake. I should've put that in my first post. It goes nine's with the big block and nitrous.

the Grand Marquis are great, really have a monster engine, and have the same one as the mustang (supposidly). you could stroke it, bore it, nitro it, and watch it run some 12s, maybe at a turbo to get 10s. would be sad though, watching an LS1 eat it to a damn luxury car..... kinda like that old *** minivan that rapes vettes....

You are correct, I have never lost a Street Race for Money. NOT because I am fast, but because I begged and got what I wanted. PLEASE, lets not rehash........ MGMs do have a Long wheelbase that makes them Launch.LOTS of weight that is not easy to shed. The tranformation in the 80's came with the 86. The 86 5.0 is a Roller Motor, the 85 is not. The "Standard" engine is Not an HO 5.0. But why not make an MGM into a Fast Street Car?Not to many around. I only know of 1 that I consider a Street Race Car.He runs a 460 out of a 76 Cougar.Good heads and a Cam and Good gears and such. He runs like a 13.0, not a super fast ride, but he still weighs 4,200 and Drives it Daily.

Man, I've been thinking. Maybe I should do a two door car. A four door sounds like too much trouble. A two door with a big block. Oh well, just an idea.
