Thumbs up Oh Yeah!!!! This will be sweet....

My FMS 3.73 gears and installation kit get here tomorrow.

There is a test and tune this Friday and there is an import club that will be there racing.

AHHHHHHH!!! Life is good, I cant wait to waste all of the little Hondas.

There are a few guys that used to always beat me with a high 14 compared to my low 15.

Those days are over my friend this Friday is payback time.

I am going from 2.73's to 3.73's so mid 14's are mine.

Oh and by the way do you guys remember my post about the early 90's turbo probe wanting to race my stang well I smoked his @ss this wekend in my truck (00'GMC).

I just wanted to spread some joy, this friday I get to kill imports all day and get some payback on all the high 14 sec. stangs and slomaro's.

LIFE IS GOOD OH SO GOOD

5.0 HO, Cant wait to see you new times. I have the stock 3.08 gear in my 93 Cobra & am still trying to decide to go with 3.55 or 3.73's. I have the ring & pinion for 3.55's in my garage(got slightly used for $100)or just trade those to my mechanic who says go with the 3.73's. My car wont see too much more highway driving, so gas mileage is not an issue. Have fun! Later!

Man I got a great deal on the FMS gears I got them new off of E-bay with an installation kit for $155.00 and thats including shipping.

Me and my dad are going to install them, its a damn miracle that he is actually gonna lay hands on my Ford. Being the diehard Chevy guy that he is.

I really want to go ahead and order my nitrous kit but I cant find the right one.
I want a 100 shot dry kit but I cant find one dont knnow who makes it.

DO NOT put used gears in that car! Go with a new set of 3.73s. From what you have said this is the gear you want! Do not go cheap with gears.

I was just reading the August issue of Mustangs and Fastfords and there is a lot of stuff in the issue about Nitros. Summit sales a lot of gear, and Nitros Works seems to have a lot of options

EZRIDIN, Thanks for the note...seems everyone thinks that will be the better choice, but I still feel better hearing it from someone on this board! Uncle Sam sent me a note today saying my wife & I get $600 back sometime next week, so hopefully a week from saturday i'll start breaking in some new 3.73's! I can't wait...this racin' thing is soooo addictive! Later!

I had used gears put in my car. The guy I bought them off of went higher. I looked them over and saw NO WEAR. He installed them perfectly. No whine or bad sounds in 6000 miles.

I guess I got lucky.

Used gears can be a super bad idea. Its good to see I'm not the only one torn between 3.55's and 3.73's. Think I'm heading to the 3.73's (OK, I'm a follower). Anyone have any idea exactly how much worse they are on the highway vs. 2.73's or 3.55's?

i'm pretty sure new gears need to be broken in first before hammering on them?? might want to check first and not mess them up and have to redo them no matter how bad you want to run them.

Ok here is an update;

Last night I pulled the rear end cover dropped the drive sfaft an removed the pinion nut, the four 12 point bolts that hold the drive shaft to the rear end were tight as hell.

Good news it does have 2.73's in it and it was a damn good thing that I decided to swap the gears cause when I pulled the drive shaft my U-joints were really bad

Today at lunch I will go buy somemore U-joints and today after work I will go and complete the job.

I think that as phucked up as my U-joints were that they could have been robbing power
they are so messed up that you can barely move them with your hand.

Its a funny thing I was never sure if I liked my little sisters boyfriend or not but last night when I was having a hard time with those four 12 point bolts that hold the shaft to the rear he jumped under the car in his good clothes and helped me out and new what he was doing after that he is ok in my book nothing helps male bonding more than working on cars.
