It says no slicks and no electronic equipment but then it says call for details. I think the slicks defy the the (street legal) catagory since they arent DOT approved. But they will let you use them anyway. It says call for details so why not ask em? Pat, it sucks that you cant come. I really want to see your car. Maybe you can get the night off or have someone cover for you? [This message has been edited by fastang (edited 06-12-2001).] |

the people at that track are pretty layed back, you won't have a problem using slicks! you're supposed to have a helmet if you run 13.99 or faster, and the tech guy said to me"don't worry about it kid, if you run in the 12's then we will probably call you on it!" i cracked into the 13's 3 times and they never said a thing! you need to wear pants and a normal shirt and closed shoes, they are strict on that. isn't the next one on the 22nd and 23rd of this month? or is it this weekend you guys are going?

89cp - check out http://www.famosoraceway.com/streetlegal.html Like I said, I was only reading the website.
The schedule has the next event June 22 and 23 but it also says on the Events page "Street legal drags are held on Fridays starting at 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays starting at 1:00p.m. Street Legal cars are always welcome during all of our Saturday Summit Races and all of our Saturday Open Test and Tunes." Does this mean every Friday and Saturday? |

Looks like the next ones are the 22nd (fast and the furious day) and the 23rd.
I would definatly rather go on a friday as it is night racing and would be much cooler. Bakersfield is hot as hell! About the slicks, they had the same rule at pomona, everyone ran em. No big deal. The only thing I gotta get is a helmet. 22nd sound good for everyone? What time are you heading up Sky? I usually get out of work around 5:00 in Burbank, which won't put me at Famoso till at least 7:30 by the time I swing by home and lose the monkey suit and pick up monkey woman.

withamc,
hehhe. I didn't click on the picture the last time. doh! Anyhow, I'm sure you can use slicks. I was just there this past weekend with a friend and he got to run his slicks all day long. Hell, they let him use a coke can for a catch can! You can always try teching in with your radials and then switching them over before hitting the staging lanes, but I'm sure you will not have any problems with the slicks. You should have a safety loop though. BTW, you can race both days, but Sat is when they have most of their points racing, so you will not have as many runs as you would on Friday. enjoy |

OK - I've never been to a strip before. "Catch can"? Do I need a safety loop? How about just me, the car, and a helmet?

I might be able to leave at 4 but I still wouldnt get there untill around 8, and my girl wants to go, she doesnt get off untill 6 too, and I seriously doubt that she can get off that early.
They run on Saturday night too. They dont stop untill 10, thats pretty late. I would prefer a friday too but I just wont be able to make it. I will go up late next friday and get a room. If you guys dont want to run on Saturday I might visit you at the track before you leave and go by myself on Sat. I was considering getting a 100 shot for this, what do you think Sky? From what I understood is that the 23rd is only daytime Racing. I know I can go for sure on the 22nd. I dont know about the 23rd. I don't want u to get stuck there by yourself tho jesse on saturday, that would suck. Im gonna check my private messages now.

I'm in luck - I'm getting off work on Friday because our company is moving in to it's new offices. I'm changing my tranny this weekend if it fits and I'm good to go either the 22nd or the 23rd.
