Post First run with new combo...killed WS6

I was out for a milk run, when I figured while out i'd give a look-see for a chance to gage my new sset up. Exgmguy helped me get the car running a week ago and I wanted to test it.

So I see the WS6 LS1 and figure i'll roll up next to it slow. As I started to pass him he gives it a little jab, then ducts behinde me to make a Michigan turn around on to M-59 (local road, 4 laner) We stop at the light, he askes what I have done. I say exhaust and pullies. We get to a kslow roll to the traffic get out of the way. I nail it in first then second, by this time I have pulled at least 3 cars on him, I miss third grab it and still pull on him like crazy!!!

We slow and he looks over with a mistified grin. The best part, I don't even have my MSD Dist. TFS cam, or 190L pump in yet!!

I wa worried that my car wouldn't perform up to my expectations. I think I will be happy with it for at least a month.

Sorry So long.....Thanks exgmguy!!!! Now lets get that cam in!!!

Yea, I have TFS TW heads, TFS Street intake, 30# injectors, FMS Pullies, 65MM TB, BBK Equal length, off-roads, BBK Cold air, FMS Aluminum Drive Shaft, Auburn Diff. 3.73's, 75MM Mas air, And a little lighter than stock, should be under 3000lbs now. I still have a TFS stage 1 cam, MSD Dist. Drive Shaft loop, Strut Tower brace and a 190L fule pump to put it. If I can tear exgmguy away from life for a weekend it'll get done, then it's time for some dyno tuning.

Yea, even I was a little suprised (yet pleased) at how well I pulled on him. Can't wait to get the cam and stuff in and head to the track, maybe i'll get a high 12 out of this thing... I hope!

30lb injectors seem like a bit much....

You'll easily go mid 12's w/ that combo.

Yea, I know... not sure what I was thinking. I am wishing I would have went with 24# and a pro-m77, live and learn I guess. I'm sure i'll be changeing both when I manage to save my pennies and call greg @ Detroit Speed Works for a Turbo Tech kit. Though I would like to make the car look less like a junker. I want to do the saleen look alike thing.

Cool

Mid 12's no problem. It's always fun using the old "pulleys and exhaust" or "hi-po wires and split fire plugs" routine. Makes them feel even worse! Nice kill!

Well, it looks like it'll be a while before the cam or the car see any action for a while. I blew me knee out last tuesday, I can't even go to work for two weeks, can't bend it. It was the single most painful event in my life. I hope surgery is not in my future, well see after the MRI on the 10th. But i'll be working hard so I can get the cam and the rest of the stuff in and kick some more tail... maybe i'll even keep up with you exgmguy.. well not yet.

If you pulled that WS-6 that bad....hi 12's are too slow for you

I'd say mid or possibly low 12's.

Why didn't you get the TFS #2 Cam instead of the #1??? The #2 Cam is a beast.

Great Kill

All those mods to beat a stock F-Body? I'm impressed. I guess congrats are in order. Are you sure it wasnt a 6 cylinder? ;-) Dont kid yourself though, the F-bodies are a VERY stout stock car.

GP6T, What's that supposed to mean?

Bolt-on, off the shelf unported parts that were installed in a day. Gimme a break. the car still has the stock cam, looks and sounds like a stock LX with Flowmasters.

It very well may have been a V-6 though. I would imagine no Mustang could beat an LS1.

ExGmGuy, I have your back....I admit, I do like the LS-1's, but these LS-1 fans talk like they are invincible. It just really sucks that GM has to have a car with 65 more cubes and plus they have to severely underrate the car to make it faster than the 4.6's. What I mean is that they have to lie about the car's hp to make it look like their cars with 320 whoop the Ford 320 hp cars. The fact is that their cars are making 25-30 more hp than what they are rated, and they try to hide it to make them look better.

Cool

Oh come on, let's not start the old Camaro vs Mustang debate and how Stangs need work to beat Camaros......stock: 40_more cubes, 70+ hp more, .7 liters more etc etc etc.....it's obvious that a '90's Stang would need work to beat a new WS6/SS, since there starting off w/ such a disadvantage.

Where would the late model GM guys be without the LS1? All through the 80's the mustang worked the camaro and it wasn't until 93 that the general had something (LT1)but it was but a tenth faster than the 93 cobra and it was a re-engineered motor rather than bolt-ons like the cobra, the fox mustangs only needed a couple bolt-ons to beat the LT1 and today you can buy the parts, take one day and you're out beating on LS1's and their mighty late 90's technology with a car built in 1987! If only Ford got a clue and put 4.30's in the cobra stock, then what would the GM guys do?
