Raced a WRX
I was driving home and a Blue WRX turned left behind me and started following me. We got to a red light and went when it turned green. He slightly jumped but then I walked away from him right away (I got a perfect launch - no wheel spin). Went up to approx 75 mph and it was all over. Atleast 5 car lengths.
A simple question unrelated to this topic: The company I work for is owned by 2 brothers. The older brother has a 2001 Porsche Turbo with a different exhaust system (not sure what kind) and the younger brother just bought a 2002 Viper RT/10. I'm sure the Porsche is faster top end, but if they went from a slow roll, do you think the Viper could keep up? No question from a dead stop the Porsche would out-launch the Viper due to the AWD. But don't they trap about the same in the 1/4? 117-120mph? Anyways, I can't wait to get my Supercharger installed so I can show them both some LX taillights!!!!! Adam

WRX is not much of a car as everyone makes it up to be, the AWD does not save it at all. either way, good kill. I never get enough of seeing a WRX eat it, especially when it is me! hope you enjoyed an AWD dinner!

It was a 4 door sedan. Yeah, I was kind of hoping it would be a closer race. It was probably bone stock though. I have heard that it is pretty easy to do some simple upgrades though and get them in the 13's. Oh well, I'm still looking to race an LS1 and see how I fair against them. I'm sure I'll get my chance soon enough.

oh no, from a roll, or topend, a viper gts would kill a porsche, they did a motor trend test a while back, the porsche was a good match for the viper until something like 145 where the the viper began to leave the porsce in the dust, dunno about the outcome now.
btw, i raced a modded wrx and got beat, but it was even until i missed 4th, his best time was 13.2's @ 101. good kill.

i've seen a few wrx's run at the track and they were running 16's. i've never seen a really fast one. maybe they were the non turbo ones or something.

FIVEPOINTOH -
I have a Ford crate motor with an E303 cam and GT40-Y heads, cobra intake, 24 lb injectors, 1.72 roller rockers, 65mm tb, 73mm maf, pulleys, electric fan, ceramic coated shorty headers, Bassani x-pipe with converters, Flowmaster 2-chamber cat-back, aluminum driveshaft, 3.73's, Lentech street terminator aod with 2800 stall converter, synthetic air in the tires, redline wiper washer fluid, and titanium plated muffler bearings. The piston return springs were also recalibrated to accept the VTEC engine management system, 255 lph fuel pump, Aeromotive billit fuel pressure regulator, crane ps51 coil, 9mm spark plug wires, 1" phoenolic intake spacer, timing at approx 15 degrees, a small chip in the windshield, aerodynamic dent in right front fender to help the launch, glowing blue ford emblem on front bumper for that extra 50 hp edge, Corbeau Carrerra racing seats, removed back seat, vanilla air freshner, Alpine head unit, 2 JL audio 10" subs in the trunk, removed 5.0 fender badges for weight reduction. removed LX emblem on trunk (waiting for a LX-R emblem to come out still) and like bubba from Forest Gump said, "and that's about it"! Sorry so long, I'm in a goofy mood. About the Porsche and Viper thing, I've found some 1/4 mile times for RT/10's that says they will do a 12.2 @ 118 mph. What is a 2001 Porsche Turbo w/6 speed rated at? I don't know where to look for advertised specs on these cars. Adam

The 911 Turbo will leave the Viper off the line because of traction, but the Viper has huge top end. They aren't slouches off the line, but they don't have AWD either. The GTS topped out at 192mph in one of Motor Trends testing sessions. That's huge speed. The RT/10 would get mauled top end if it didn't have the hard top on.
