Cool

I'll say 14.6 at 96 or 97. Somewhere in there.

let me get a hold of it and do a tune up, then let my friend drive and at least 13.90s at houston raceway park, seeing as a buddy's bone stock 90 gt went 13.90 on its first pass

TheSloAod, you can come & tune it up, then let your buddy drive it 13.9, but at my track, its probly got better conditiond, 24ft elevation, verry low humidity, & was 4 yr in a row (94-98) track of the year.
remember, i have the stock shifter.
thanks, but do you really think a kid will go 13.9 on his first pass, driving his stang in the first week?

ask your buddy how he launched, & his driving techniques.

thanks

I had to drive the #@$ out of my stang to get my 13.9, and on 225/60's but i must of hit those grs perfect but 14.0's are no problem, just cant do any better for some reason, but now have a chip now,so 13's are back i hope.
And 13.90 in a heavy gt, on just one run is kinda hard to do?? maybe on sticky tires.

the guy driving the car wasnt the owner... it was his first time to drive the car ever, and i'm sure he hadnt used a stock shifter in a long while. it had regular tires on it, 225/55/15s, i think. i'll ask him aobut his driving tech's and get back with you... but the car totally original (even had the airbox)

Cool

I think you will run about a 14.70 to a 14.80. Last week I raced my car for the first time and ran a 15.40 its not that my car is that slow I just could not launch for nothin I just sat there and spun all of first and half of second I was pretty embarrassed. Tonight is the night for me I am going to mess with my timing and try to get 14 somethin time slip. Launching is the tricky part if you can get that down you will maybe get a mid 14 or so "GOOD LUCK"

Your car is capable of low 14s, like 14.3. If you street race, or even just play around, you should be pretty close to that, at worst 14.5.

Biggest thing, if you detect wheel sping IMEDIATELY LET OFF! Don't just shift an spin through gears, its worthless. Thats how people do 15s in cars that are capable of 13s. Its not that hard to not spin, just takes a little practice, and don't worry cause if you do you can salvage the run by letting off.

With those mods and 2.73's my 87GT can run 13's.

I don't know where the best possible 14.5 stuff comes from?

Unit, I don't doubt that your near stock '87 GT can run 13's. LK's near stock 4.6 GT runs 13.6XX's. 90dpscoupe runs high 13's near stock. I maintain that even though some can do it, it's not the norm. Most near stock 5.0's and 4.6's (even Cobras) lose to me on the track and on the street. That puts them in the 14's somewhere, or worse. Again, I'm not doubting that some individual cars can do what they say. I don't assume that all of them can though.

SL67, glad to see others that remember flag starters. Welcome to the board. Your right about the giggles purely from the race. It lasts a lifetime for some of us.

Bow tie your first couple runs will most likely be in the 15's, but don't worry I think eveyone has had there share of the very first time at the track. =) Good luck and you should get the hang of it pretty quick. Just takes practice.
