My good friend who know I know a bit about cars, is trying to tell me his bone stock 2000 celica GTS can run 14.27 @92.5. I said that MPH and ET dont even match and he says cuz he missed a shift.
What do u guys think? ------------------ -1989 Saleen Mustang #406- TFS Heads, E-303, edelbrock intake,70MM TB, 73mm MAF, off road H, headers and 3chamber flows. 12.55@107mph Runs on 87 Octane and gets 24mpg! |

Time slip??
Yeah that does seem kinda off. I think I'm even pushing it when I run 14.1 @ 97 mph w/ my car. 92 mph does seem kinda low. But as I said b4... Time slip. (or just race him and decide and make an educated guess) ------------------------------- '79 Mustang Coup 4" Cowl Weld wheels (15x6;15x8) Stock 5.8L C4 w/ shift kit 1.5" MAC full length headers Holley 750 CFM Edelbrock intake 2.5" Off road H-pipe, 2-chamber Flowmasters 8.8" Rear end w/ 3.55 gears (Now that's more like it!!) I have come to the conclusion that the Celica has become the ride of choice for some rice folks. Once in a while you'll see a GT-S with lots of bolt ons and tuned well hit mid 14's, but they're easily 15 second cars stock...
I say he's majorly full of it... Its one of those cars that if you hit 13s at all, you're a God... and I'll say it again, Time Slip Please... ------------------ "The Yellowjacket" Ricer 1: What the heck was that!? Ricer 2: I don't know. It looked kind of like a yellow SN95 Mustang. Ricer 1: Nah, fast SN95 Mustangs don't exist... Must have been a mirage or something... |

I'd say hes probably pulling your leg Sky. He knows you have a fast car and probably just doesn't want to tell you he's running 15's or so. I know I've never met a stock Celica that ran that fast, or even a mod'd one. Of course there is the the "freak" theory that some cars are just monsters from the factory. But... I doubt it in this case.

The '99 Celica GT that I once ran had to have been mid 15's at best and probably 16's.

He'd be lucky to see 14s if there was a 100MPH wind pushing him down the track. ------------------ Lizard King, Bone Stock; 13.69 at 101MPH • Extreme Burnout •2000GT VS LS1 • Quartermile run •2000GT vs LX Stang |

at carlsbad I raced a rice car, i think it was a honda crx. he had slicks on it and hardly any interior, he ran a 14.42 at 92mph. so maybe if he had real good traction. whats really sad is i lost to that crap because I couldn't get past the starting line.(spinning away). (another guy on the net said he got a 12.84 with almost the identical combo as mine.)(on slicks of course)(another guy got a 12.99). so your slicks are looking real god sky. I'm getting my clutch and trans next month!!!

Yah but those CRX's weigh about as much as a feather. From what I can tell, Celicas are heavy as a mofo.

I know of one guy with a '00 GTS and he has a chip and K&N and he said he still runs low 15's. But then again he said that the top speed of his car was 260 km/h He told me that I would beat him off the line, but he would smoke me on the highway. I'd sure like to take that challenge... The celica is a nice clean looking car, and a much better platform to start with than a civic. But lets not get carried away. ------------------ Driving: 1998 F-150 Far way in Edmonton==> 1995 Mustang GT |

Inferno, of course by saying "let's not get carried away" I meant, the Celeca is a clean car, but if you paint it bright green, put a 4 foot wing on it and a 6" tailpipe you wreck the car by getting "carried away".
Same would be true of any mustang. Just to clarify. Of course, even though I'd call the Celeca a clean car, I'd still buy a new Mustang GT if given the choice . |

Funny how all those "freaks from the factory" always seem to be imports.
Just glad that I have some legite mods to account for my car going fast rather than "Oh its just a freak from the factory." ------------------ 1987 black with t-tops.
