Famoso is a couple miles north of Bakersfield - 2-1/2 hours from Ventura County (OK 2 if we fly). How much slower is LACR? I definitely want to go - I'm getting new 16" fake Cobra rims and Yokahama 225-50-16 Z rated tires to fix Friday night's blunder.

Just to let you know LACR is SLOW! I ran 14.1@98mph and 13.8@100mph there. It was terrible. I felt like I was in 3rd gear forever.
I'm ready to head out asap to the track again. Hell next weekend even. I need to tune my car a bit. If you guys wanna go I'm in, its definatly better when you have people you know there . Russ- Next time get the stang out, and we'll line em up. But if your on anything but street tires I know you'll destroy me. 12.5 is a nice run. Only problem was that I saw a STOCK 2000 SS run 13.15@107 with street tires. Those Ls1's run like a ***** from hell.

Yeah, I definatly need to get atleast 2 more times into the track before it gets hot out. I want to do some tuning to my car while I'm out there. Bakersfield or carlsbad. Although all the dirt at carlsbad is pretty crappy... We should head out to bakerfield maybe next time. I'm up for it whenever!
Also turns out the LS1 I raced was the Fastest LS1 at carlsbad that day! SO much for those mighty ls1's haha. (no, they are quick) he ran 13.1@108. The fastest Ls1 was not Mcrat it was the C5 running mid 11's. The second fastest was a black firebird who didnt have slicks and was running low 13's at over 115mph.(now thats a traction problem) with slicks he would be high 11's. Like I said my buddy ran 13.1 @107 Stock on street tires. Sorry if I find that more impressive than your HIGHLY modified car running .5 faster WITH SLICKS. Is there such a thing as a fast 4.6??? Havent seen one yet, I am not a fan of the 4.6 but the 5.0 rocks

There was another F-body LS1 was running 11.70s. The guy said he had an ATI and it sounded like it from the gear whine. I wanted to ask him more questions, but never got the chance.

Nice runs sky!!! Damn I need to get that launch kit and some struts. I have been watching your times because for a while we had very similar times, guess its time to take mine to the track and see what it runs.

Ok when I said it was the fastest that was what he told me, and other guys from the LS1.COM site. Ok, so there was 1 faster car, the C5 vette. The black firebird never ran as fast as McRats 2000SS, more mph, but not as good as ET. So your screwed up there GP6T. And I bet slicks alone WILL not put him in the high 11's, hes gonna need suspension too. And that was a HIGHLY modified LS1, so that shouldn't impress you.
So my car is highly modified? It still runs 87 octane gas. Something NO LS1 does, gest 24mpg, has a nice stereo, Power everything, air condition and everything. Not to mention it all checks in under $12000, much less than your LS1 car. And if you knew anything at all you would know my car isn't a 4.6L its a 5.0. 1989=5.0L for the ignorant. No such thing as a fast 4.6L, well let me correct you again Mr. Ignorant, there are some in the 9's and I believe one in the 8's even. Guess thats not so fast though. Not to mention Jmeiers low 12sec stock motored 4.6L cobra. Also all your other Ls1's running 13's on street tires could as easily put on slicks as anyone else. Its a mod just like exhaust or intake. Maybe I should get an Aluminum block, high compression and a 351. Or would that be too highly modified for you? I think that would just level the playing ground with the LS1 don't you GP6T? And Russ the ATI blown car your talking about was a LT1 it was a 1994. And fuel pressure is w/ 24lb injectors. I just want to make one thing clear though. I'm not trying to start a flame here or anything, it seems like we have differing opinions and I'm trying to debate it with you. I just didnt want 10,000 people jumping in and start the name calling. So GP I'm waiting your reply.

Just wanted to mention, Sky's engine is just a 302, not a 350 like the LS1. When was the last time you saw a streetable Z28 with a 305 run mid 12s?
If Sky had a similarly sized engine to the LS1, like a 347 or 351, he'd be turning high 11s (or close to) with the mods he currently has. (Sky, sorry for jumping in...I just had to get that off my chest. ) ------------------ Russ L '91 LX Procharger, 3 row intercooler, extrude honed Cobra intake, Mac full Length Headers, 30# inj., 73mm C&L, 75mm tb, E303 cam, 289 rods, ported E7 heads, MSD, T-Rex w/255 lph Walbro, 5 lug conversion, Cobra R wheels, 3.27 gears and Moser Axles. |
