Lightning Kill
Today I was driving home, and I looked in my rearview mirror and I saw a new Lightning comming up( I was sitting at a red light )the light turned green and he was still doing about 50 or so.... then the next light me and him were right next to each other, light turns green we both take off pretty even , then I pull like 2 car lengths on him. It was sweet. I figured he would have beat me, but then I got to thinking about it, they run high 13's, I run mid 13's.

Yeah, I don't know the exact specs on the Lightnings but I know they are pretty fast. One with zipping by me a few weeks ago on the highway. Oh and welcome aboard g-money.

Speaking of racing a Lightning. Last night my friend and I were coming back from Arby's, and a White 00 pulled up at about 30. I was in 2nd, and didn't think he would go, but he jumped me, but through 2nd, I pulled him 2-3 cars...he had exhaust, a Diablo chip, and a MAF. They are quick as he double hockey sticks though

Good kill 1BAD89. I am still breaking in my motor as we speak. I only have 140 miles right now and haven't even taken the motor into boost yet, but it already feels like it has tons of power and it is a dream to drive. I don't think a truck should ride or handle this good.
Saleen- W/ those mods, that '00 should run anywhere from 12.8-13.2 depending on what he's got for traction. ------------------ 2001 SVT Lightning (red): Many mods to come- Let the Vette killer begin to take shape 1997 Thunderbird 4.6L: Dynomax exhaust, Mustang intake tube, SVT Lightning 80mm MAF, Accufab MAF adapter, 7" Auto-physics powerstack filter, ram air, B&M 24,000GVW trans cooler, Custom chip, FMS 9mm wires, many more to come... 91LX2Bfast - Nice truck! Those newer style Lightning's ROCK! From what I have read the new Lightning's can really RUN - and with some mods they can get quite quick in a hurry.
Keep us posted on the mods and ET's! E ------------------ 1991 5.0 LX Coupe - 38,000 miles 13.17 @ 106.14 mph w/ 2.138 60' |

Yeah my buddy has a '01 Lightning and it is bad. Our buddy has a 98 LS1, (SS auto). He beat our buddy's modded LT1 (he was very traction limited, the modded LT1 ran 13.50 @108 with this setup). The LS1 doens't spin the tires at all.
Well we lined up the Lightning and the SS. The L had 150 or so miles on it. When they took off, the L lit the tires for the first 20 feet or so (tire marks to prove). The LS1 was consistent and did not spin and left good. Well the LS1 had the start and the L was reeling him in hard, by (we marked off a rough estimate of 1/4 mile) the end the L was catching and the front of the L was at the SS's front tire (SS didn't let up either). The truck feels totally different now that it has broken in. I bet it would be a different ending now. |

i can't see a lightning running down an ls1 on the top end, seemds odd. sure they are beasts through the eigth but they definitely don't have ls1 top end on them.

I don't know, have you ridden in a '01 L. He gave me some problems when I raced him yesterday. I didn't get traction until third gear and I gave him the jump, I (I had a 300 pound passenger) didn't catch him until fourth gear.
No BS here, 'cause my car traps at 106 and I have no reason to lie saying a stock L could hang with my modded mustang. If anything I would lie and say I beat him really bad. Those things run really well. He went to the track today and I will find out what he ran and tell you. I did beat him though, but it runs good. |
