Okay To drive car like this w/ S-TRIM??
I have driven my car about 10-15miles so far since the install...and it seems pretty nice. It's not tuned yet..and I was wondering if I was going to hurt anything by driving it until I get it tuned next week. I need to make a 70 mile round trip tomorrow and was wondering if this would be okay? I have a 255lph in tank pump, the T-REX...30#/hr injectors...and the FMU...which is 12:1 (I assume that's what vortech's stock disk is)...anyways, is this okay to drive until I get it tuned?? Josh

If you don't trust yourself take off the belt. If you want to start driving it before you get it tuned start off high on the fuel pressure and back off the timing. Don't get greedy, it's no fun replacing head gaskets.

You should be ok, as long as you stay out of the throttle. I personally wouldn't drive it, to tempting to get it to it. And don't trust the FMU, mine crapped out on me and now I am rebuilding the motor. Blew a piston, and well, you know the rest.

Sorry...I accidentally put this in the wrong forum...but...I've already gotten into some throttle...about 5# of boost and then shut her down...I didn't rip it through the gears or anything though...just had it in 3rd and wound it out a little then shifted until 4th...I believe the directiosn say to do this to check for detonation...this still okay?

Yeah, but too much of that will be bad. Very bad. Just keep the boost retard around 2.5 or 3. You do have boost retard, right?

with 5#'s you should be ok...I was worried about that too. I have a 12:1 FMU also, and boost around 6-7.5. I was actually a retard and ran it without a BTM for one day with no problems, because I was waiting for my MSD, but couldn't resist 1 run :-D

Set the base timing at 8 degrees and put the fuel pressure at 40lbs or a little more. That should be enough to keep you running rich. If you can get it to run a rich you should have no problems.

Hey quick89! I have a very similar combo. You can check it out in user rides. I do have an aftercooler on it now though. With that I run about 13 deg initial with about 1 deg boost retard with no problems on pump gas. Track tune with a several gallons of race gas is 15 initial, no boost retard. I did work my way down to this tune slowly. I have had no other tuning done other than the track, with stock computer and 4 to 1 fmu. With 30# injectors I believe you should step back to a 6 to 1 fmu. 12 to 1 will be very rich.
