the ss had an 8.4 1/8 @ 85 mph, he said 2nd gear pulls like a mofo.

porting my intake and adding TB, and edelbrock heads soon

Sounds like your car is doing good on the sticky tires. What kind of 60foots are you getting?

Get some gears in there, that will really help you out!

sky my best 60 with these stickies is a 1.899, really not that good, and that was a high rpm launch, i didnt realize how bad i need gears until i got these tires on, im thinking now, since i drive the higway alot to work, maybe a 75 shot to get it off the line better, and keep these gears, but i know gears are the way to do it.

My cars suspension is terrible, on a hard launch my car pulls to the left hard, powershift to 2nd pulls it hard the other way? but i guess thats the name of the game, upper and lca's are on the list of things to get.

I would have expected a better launch on the stickies. Guess they were just too much for the car. I was hoping you'd have enough power to get it out of the hole. My estimates with slicks are obviously pretty optimistic since my gears are worse than yours by a long shot.

Sounds like you don't need much more to start cloing the gap on him though.

unit, i was actually spinning them to 2.0 60's with 20 psi, then when i go lower psi, the motor doesnt bog, but has a hard time accelerating.

they arent really overkill if i improved 3-4 tenths, im not disapointed, just thought a 1.7 was possible, i still need practice, and closing the gap would only consist of the edelbrock heads and a cobra intake, im getting a good deal on a cobra intake, with 24 injectors, and 75 maf, that should help me a bit, but i know im still gonna need longtubes to make any real good trap speeds, maybe some porting.

Thumbs up

A 1.7 would have put you into the low 13's easy.

Yeah, I can feel my car needing more gear with what it has when I put slicks on.

3.08's just aren't going to cut it. I wouldnt expect better than a 1.8x 60' w/ those gears.

If you drive the freeway a lot go with 3.55's.

I have 3.73's and a SMALL 225/50/16 tire and its not bad on the freeway at all.

I had 3.08's, i put these 3.27's in, but with these tires, you have to have 3.73 0r steeper to get any decent short times.
