Racing 101...
Need some advice on what's the best way to come off the line. My car is a stock automatic (2000 mustang gt), and I'm very new to racing. I hate to go out experimenting without at least a little knowledge since it's very hard to find a place to experiment around here.
Street AND strip if someone doesn't mind helping me out. Thanks... ps: i have traction control |

your taction control should keep you from spinning, but I think it actually modulates your brakes to do this, which sucks! (guessing) So all ya have to do is Floor it! Can you turn the traction control off?

yes i can turn it off. it's a little button under the cd player (mach 460 sound system) on the bottom panel.
so it's not a good idea to hold the brakes and get a few rpms going first? and should i start out in 1st and manually shift, or just let it do it's thing? ps: actually, i think traction control takes over the throttle, not the brakes. but judging from my knowledge, i could be wrong |

traction control will effect the throttle and the brakes. uses to brakes to slow the car and it limits spart to every other cylinder to reduce torq to the weels. As far as off the line goes i would keep it in regular drive and hold the brakes and get up to about 2000 rpm then let go of the brake and hit the gas. 2000 may not be the best rpm but you will have to play with it. find the one that spins the tires leats or best not at all. That way you dont just sit there spinning while the other guy is already gone.
