Stock 97 in the 14's!
I know, it doesn't sound like much. For those of you who remember, I had the car at the track in September, and ran a 15.5. Well, Saturday I had it running good, and broke into the 14's. The only mod on the car is a tri-ax. Yeah, theres the k&n, but that should be stock. 2.73's with the locker if your interested.
Check it out, I'm car #100.(but you knew that because it's the winner, and it the white slip ) There was something wrong with the gun at the 1/4 mark. Read 10 mph (est) slow on and off all day. Here she is, after a hard days work. I think if I pull the sway bars and can get some traction, I can get into the mid 14's before I swap gears.

Congrats, although I will say if I am reading your time slip correctly and it says that you ran a high 14 with a 2.4 60ft. Thats very strange and means your car is capable of a 14.3 with a 2.0 60ft.
Did you duplicate or come close to that time on any of your other runs. No flames intended,

Dark,
That was the only time I ran in that lane. I ran a 15.2 and 15.3 with 2.6 and 2.7 60' times, spinning when I hit second in the other lane. Seems like I would have backed it up with the same 60'. Don't worry, it surprised me as much as anybody.

Sweet, Hopefully your stay in the 14 second club will be brief. Man with some traction and a 2.0 60ft you could pull off some real low 14's.
Sticky tires my friend,

Deuce - gotta get those 60' times down! 2.6-2.7 is really smoking them up!
Another vote for sticky tires. E

I have decent tires up front (some sort of Kumoho's) that I'm moving out back. They're currently a pep boys special that was there when I bought it.
I was hanging with guys with DR's cutting 2.1's and slicks getting 1.8's. Nobody was hooking for a crap. I'm going again this weekend, and hopefully get my 60' down. I'm happy cutting a .8 light for now. Not many people were getting lower than that.

Hey Deuce,
If you can get a set of 15x7 or 15x8 wheels, I've got a couple of G60 McCrearies.

I've got a set of 93 4cyl LX rims in my garage, 15X7 I think, that I would LOVE to put some sticky tires on! I heard McCrearys are cheap, so would it be better for me to look locally for them or could I take them off your hands? later! Sean

Congrats. That would be a good match for my car right now!
My friend had a 97GT He had 3.73, K&N and exhaust. I have a video of me racing him! It was close. My front bumper at his door. At the track I beat him because I usualy get near perfect reaction times! (.525-.550) ! This bastard ran 14.97 the day I ran 14.98 !

NO SLO PK,
I'm checking to make sure 15's will fit over my rear brakes. I don't see why it wouldn't but I'll PM you later this week, or talk to you at the track. Special K, His car was that slow with 3.73's and exhaust? I've got stock gears and exhaust. That's why I'm so freaking stoked right now.

Yeah maybe he was not that good at drag racing. I did 15.16 with his car and I missed third gear BAD!!! I notice im usualy about .3s slower when I miss a gear. You do the math.
Dont forget im usualy driving a low torque, FWD car with a very light clutch. It felt weird to race a RWD V8 car after selling my mustang!

Trust me Deuce cutting a good 60ft on street tires is a black art.
Try this, In my cobra I revv the car up to about 3000 RPMS and ride the clutch out the hole letting the clutch out to where I am just squeeling the tires not spinning them. I cut 2.09-2.15 60fts in my cobra all day on 245/17's street tires, and I have IRS. Practice, Practice, Practice. So how you liking the Tri-ax....

The tires are just over half worn. Shipping would probably cost almost as much as I would ask for the tires. They'd work well for the Deuce, however, who is local. (Translation...I'm too lazy to package up these donuts to ship them...just no profit in the sale to begin with...at least I'm honest). If you're going to buy a new DOT tire, I'd recommend getting a DR instead. They're much more stable at speed. IMO, I like the BFGs better than the Nittos. Russ

The Deuce, if no one else said it, GREAT JOB! Now let's kick some Import butt. Inferno sounds like he's got a low 14 second ride without the turbocharger. You have to win this race against him. Listen to the Mustang guys on this messageboard and you'll beat him on the track. Good luck on your race!
