Need opinions - Money race
Hi guys, I need your opinion here on whether or not I should take this race.
A friend and auto technician here at my dealership has a 00 Z28. His best run stock was a 13.8 at Pomona which is a good track. He is installing 411's right now as I am typing. He wants to race me when I get my motorwork done for 50 bucks. Most of you are familiar with my car since I am a damn post junkie. I have everything in my signature and am installing a set of TFS Twisted Wedge heads port matched to a Holley intake. I am keeping my B303 cam. Do you think I can win? He should be pulling low 13's with the gear swap. With heads, cam, intake, longtubes and 355's I hope so. ------------------ 95GT B303 cam, 1.7 rockers, 65mm TB, milled heads, 355's K&N, BBK Longtubes, Flowmaster cat back, pulleys, msd coil, 9mm wires, Tremec 3550, Pro5.0 shifter,10.5 Motorsport clutch, FMS aluminum driveshaft, weld in subframe connectors |

Yeah you can beat him. Your pulling 13.8's as your car sits right now. 4.10 gears isn't gonna help him that much.
Its ALL going to come down to traction. I rarely see those F-bodys 60' at all. As one of them told me with drag radials "I can't launch over 3000rpm with the DR's or I roast the clutch, and under 3000rpm it bogs" Its really hard for them to cut sub 2.0 60 foots. If you can hook up, get your car tuned and running well, get that power to the ground I say you win easily. Thanks Sky, Thats what I was figuring. He thinks that the alititude and temp of my run at Famoso is total bullshit and refuses to factor it in. I think he's gonna spin the **** out of em in first while launch on the nittos.

ya, have you run your car? i think you have him, as long as you don't get excited, you have it in the bag. if his gears are gonna be newly installed, he'll spin, and you'll take him. as i always say SPINNING IS SLOW! and this will prove it!

Sky, I think we are going to race in Fontana when it opens up. So you'll be there when this goes down. You said that as long as I can get the power to the ground I should win. Well, I just installed a new clutch last month and its working great. I used the same FMS clutch from summit. I believe you said that you were using the same one.
Does ANYONE out there doubt that I will win? If not Im probably going to see if he wants to race for a hundred, or more. Daddy wants a new dampener baby! He has a REALY low opinion of Fords. He's a chevy guy all the way, always was. He thinks that I dont stand a chance without a BIG shot of nos or a supercharger to take out an LS1. In fact Im going to try to bring a lot of the guys from my work. One has a 373 stroker Chevy in an old Malibu, his brother has a modded LS1 Firebird, and another guy here has a trailor queen Mopar running 12.50's on the motor soon to be a LOT quicker. I should have a hundred shot by then. Im not going to use it on him because I agreed not to, but I want to race Sky for the hell of it. He can post here about how badly he whooped my *** Sky, I want you to race Rons Mopar. Its running 12.50's now on the motor and he just had a little headwork done to it. His goal is a 11.90 on the motor but he's not going to see it. I REALLY want you to whoop his fuking A$$. He's constantly giving me $hit about my car and the money that I put into it. The hypocrite puts all his money into the damn thing and then tells me that Im stupid for modding my car the way that I have. He says that with all the money that I spent on parts I could have had a supercharger by now, and that Im stupid for buying these heads, because "its a street car and I dont need all that $hit" I told him that if I DID get a charger on a totaly stock stang it wouldnt put out much boost since a stock motor wont take too much and that my car with the heads, cam and intake will perform much better than a stock stang with a 6 lb charger. He says Im wrong. Anyway, I want you to whoop his *** with an 11 second daily driven mustang. I have NO doubt that you will be able to. ------------------ 95GT B303 cam, 1.7 rockers, 65mm TB, milled heads, 355's K&N, BBK Longtubes, Flowmaster cat back, pulleys, msd coil, 9mm wires, Tremec 3550, Pro5.0 shifter,10.5 Motorsport clutch, FMS aluminum driveshaft, weld in subframe connectors [This message has been edited by fastang (edited 07-22-2001).] |

Well.. when does it open?
I wish I could get a new intake and cam also for some more power before then, but I'll just have to jet up the n20 to compensate. What do you say we try swapping TB's at carlsbad also to see if that really works. I always hear I coudl pick up like 2-3mph going to 65mm from a 70mm. Id like to see how it affects both or our motors. Its only 4 bolts. If you want to try it out. Sky, bring the tools and we will swap all day. Fontana opens on September 9th. Which will give me a little over a week to tune it up. I would really appreciate you help Sky. One last question here. Do you think I should get the Holley or the track heat? I want to shift around 6.

Ive seen and heard that the holley is really good. As I said on anderson ford motorsport it made the most power with the TFS heads.
Lookin at badasslx's motor I see he is making great power with the track heat intake. I don't think you can go wrong either way... I just look at his great MPH, and that gives a good vote for the track heat. I dont know man if I were you I would be very cautious. This guy is a mechanic and probably knows his $hit. I would accept the 50 dollar bet and leave it at that.
Those new camaros are a worthy opponent and pull hard on the top end. but at the track it all comes down to the driver. If I were racing for $100.00 there is no way that I would race him without inspecting his car first. Since he has already made you promise not to use your Nitrous you better make sure that he isnt hiding something... ------------------ 88 mustang gt convertible bored to 306 BBk equal length headers mac cold air fender kit 3.73 FMS gears cowl hood nitto drag radials ford racing clutch flow masters h-pipe 160* thermostat 16 degrees of timing electric fan off 94' t-bird jacobs electronics cap and wires.
