I don't just criticize Mustangs I somtimes criticize their owners, the ones that think their car is something it's not. I do that with F-bod guys who feel the same way. anybody for that matter even other vetters. My friend and fellow Forum member has a mustang and it's damn fast and he knows how to drive. however he doesn't think that it's the fastest car around and he respects the ability of fast cars wether it be a Mustang, F body, Vette, 71 Nova, or a ******* Baby blue Civic that runs 11's. he doesn't look down on any car that performs. I am the same way I may have an issue with the 03 but a large part of that is my inane desire to rile the troops but it's partly because it hasn't quite lived up to the hype. If when the Z06 came out and it was hyped as being a 12.5@115ish car and was nearly always running 14's or very high 13's I would be all over that like crazy. Even thouigh I'm a Vette guy. But it does run 12.5's @115 sometimes better sometimes worse but more often the not (thats an important element here) it does what they say it will. I'm guessing that there are a few 03 owners on this board. I know theres one because I tried to line up a race with him and he passed for the time being. With all my blowing of 14's and 104-106 times has even one of them stood up and said "I have a stock 03 cobra and I ran 12.6@113 here's my slip" and post it..........Yeah thats what I thought. I have said before and I'll say again it should be able to do it. I don't know why they are not. People say it's too hot it's this it's that but right now on the same day these 03's are going 13.6's -14.0's I'm running 12.6-12.8 meaning I would be between 10-14 lengths ahead (using the .1=1 car theory) and Sky with his "slow" trap speed car would be up to 17 lengths thats a big big differance.

Aqua- Good deal man, Yeah I dont wanna see you leave the board, and I appologize for gettin a little bit antagonizing there. I do agree I was hoping for more MPH outta the cars. When I saw the first one going 111 at the track, that was disappointing to me. I don't wanna see ya leavin the board anytime soon.
What about that guy on the viper site that supposedly went 116 or 118 bone stock, what was up with that? And as far as RWHP #'s go, I dont trust them for anything. My car supposedly dynoed 332rwhp 351rwtq. The dyno place is since outta business for screwing w/ the numbers, I think. PS, Ill get 110 next time out, even if I have to use the nitrous. Skyler

The Guy on the Viper site going 116-118 hard to say maybe it was stock maybe it wasn't I have said I was stock or "Just a filter" before on one of my old H/C cars. On the flip side I have told people I was Modded when I was stock after they refused to believe that I beat them in a stock Vette. 118 seems damn high for a car oif that weight with 360rwhp. but like UNIT will tell ya some cars are freaks I have also had mixed feelings on Dyno's and their operators so I had mine dyno'd twice on two different machines with near duplication. I will go on yet a third machine in the begining of August to see how much My 100 shot is really giving me. Plus it's a wide band 02 machine and it will help me tune. Take care and good luck getting that 110 trap Aqua

No Vette,No LS1, No Cobra here. Just a Slow Street Racer. Most of you it seems to me are paying Far to much attention to MPH;DON'T!--ET is what counts. Remember ET,ET,ET.I'll take a Consistent 12.0-112 Car over a 12.40-115 Any Day.Tires,Tires,Tires. The 60's I have seen posted are Horrible for the ET.ps: There are 2, 03 Cobras, right? A 385 Hp and a 415? A guy I know just got 1. It says 385 on it and he payed $52,000. Is that about right?

What makes you say you should ignore trap speed and look at ET? Obviously ET is what is going to win you a race, but trap speed is a much better indicator of how much power a car is making and what kind of potential it has. If a car is making a lot of power and running street tires of course the ET isn't going to be that great, but the trap speed gives you a good idea of what it can run with traction.

Ok, I guess it was the R Version. I know he goes 12.30's all day long. That's why I asked, because I wasn't sure. I am sure of the Price he payed. His is S/C if that helps.----I never said don't pay attention to MPH. I was just trying to get everyone to understand it's better to have a Consistent Low ET and Low Mph than a Slower ET and Higher Mph.ps: Obvious to you and I , Trust me, there are MANY that Don't think so.

Ok, let me get this straight: A guy you know purchased a Cobra R for $52,000, then he put a supercharger on it????????? What kind of S/C? How did he mount it? ...... Wait, why would anyone with such a rare and already a collectors car MODIFIY it?
I'm not try to start anything with you, Marqui, but are you sure you know what you're talking about? E

For street cars at the track not running slicks, MPH is the best indicator of vehicle potential. It does sound like your buddy bought a 2000 Cobra R, but those didn't come with a supercharger. Having a supercharged one would be bad-@ss.

I never said I knew it was an R Version. You said the R was rated at 385. The car he has says 385 on the side, you know, where you normally see the 5.0 on 5.0s.It also has a number, like 271 on the back. He said that was the Production number or something.I was asking questions and stating what I knew.I KNOW it's a Mustang, NOT sure about the Year,if 02 or 03. I KNOW it is S/C, NOT sure if that is factory. I KNOW it has the numbers on it as I stated.I KNOW the price he payed. He DID bye it NEW about 3 months ago.So what is it? ps: I KNOW it goes 12.30's. I don't remember Mph, I think about 114.

Sounds like it could be a Saleen. Not too shabby either.

Yes, Saleen's are 'numbered' cars, if you will. Just like Skyman's is #406 for his year.
Sounds like it may be a Saleen - could easily be the S/C 281 model. E

Actually there is a true 2000 Cobra R with a blower on it running around. I raced against him at the Virgina FFW race last month in the qualifying arounds. His passes against me were a 12.27 @ 124.32 and 12.08 @ 120 on street tires.
Also for any doubters of the 03 Cobra's there is one locally that recently dynoed at 500RWHP with bolt-ons and tuning. Bill

Makes sense to me. So consistent 12.30's at about 114 is right? And that 281 number must be the other Number I saw on the back and the 385 number was on the side near the door jam Middle Fender location. You know where I mean. ps: He gets Good tires and that 12.27 could be an 11.27,or better.
