Talking Smoked what I thougt was a V6 Camaro RS.

Well tonight on my way home from work, I pulled up next to a Red Camaro (What I thought was a RS V6 Camaro)at a stop light, Murchison Rd and Country Club. The kid looked over at me and gave me a nod. I thought he was just showing his respect to the 40 series flows and Shiny GT badge.

I didnt think he would do anything, and I didnt want to show my A$$ for nothing and risk getting a ticket in a cop infested area (Especially after we had a Fayetteville City cop shot and killed Thursday.).

The light changes, and this guy takes off. I look and see a set of pipes hanging out the rear. I just think its a RS V6 with Duals. After I let this guy get a car and a half jump on me, I decide to show him I can catch him before I hit Third.

I launch pretty good, shift Extremely quick and clean, and catch him shortly after I hit third gear. My front bumper was at his door handle by the end of second. I pull on him till I thought he could see my taillights. Then I put the Hazards on and beep twice.

He lets off, then I let off. He drops way back. I was going like 50 (Usually do 60 down Country Club) hoping he would pull up along side of me. He slowed down even more. As we approached another intersection the light changed red. I stopped. And it took him a good minute or two to get to the light. When he pulls up next to me, I yelled over to him.

Now let me remind you, I thought this guy was a V6 Camaro, I was just complimenting him on a good run, and ask him how he got the V6 so quick.

"Hey man, thats a strong running 6 cylinder. Watcha do to it." I asked inncoently.

"***** off." was the reply I got. I wanted to beat the hell out of him, when I noticed the Z28 on the side of the car. I say out loud. "SH!T. What is it and LT-1." kinda surprised, actually really surprised.

"Yeah, its an LT-1." Then i pay alittle more attention to his exhaust. It sounded like a V8, had the Z28 sings all over it, I guess it was a Z28.

I'm surprised I was able to catch him so quickly. I realized after that I just really insulted the guy by telling him he had a quick V6. Opps...Made yet another friend tonight.

ROTFLMAO!!!

Strong running V-6, hehehe.

Anyway, it's not your fault... Sorry Fbod guys, but the V-8 Fbods sound exactly like a Ford V-6 to me. That hollow fart honk is pretty confusing.

I never know what any one has these days. Most of the V6's are badged as V8's and the V8's....well they are V8's. I can catch an LT1 with some good driving and I have killed all the 6's I have run. My problem is those dam LS1's....

I seriously doubt anyone is going to confuse your car with a V6 Bri32z.

Default Z28

Whats funny is this,I still see a few "rebadged" 5.0s 4 cylinders
running around! That was the hot ticket for 4s,put the 5.0 badges
on it,but I hear know is the guys w/Z28s/SS take off the badges so you "think" your about to smoke a V6!You didn't say which "one" of your cars you were driving?

Default I was in the Red Baron. My 2000 GT

I raced the guy in my 2000 GT. Thats my everyday driver, I usually specify if I'm in my older one. Mods are in the sig. I do believe it was a Z28, other wise why would the guy of been so upset.

It also did have the Fart Honk GM F-Body V8 exhaust sound (No offense GM guys.). I dont see many 6cyl trying to be Z28 Posers

Unfortunatley, I never have ran any of my cars at the track. I want to, but finding the time is hard to do.

The old 64 1/2 with the 289 (Diane), before the Head Job, would beat most 96-98 4.6's by a car length. She has given a few 5.0's surprised also.

After I melted a few Valves, and had to rebuild the top half, she has waken up much more. Lets see, I ported, polished, shaved, CC'd the heads, put larger valves in. And put on a set of 1.7:1 rockers. Now she cant keep traction at all. Punch it in First gear at just about any speed and she does the ONE WHEEL WONDER SPIN. I wanna upgrade to a Locker unit, with something other than the 3:1 ring and pinion. I also plan on converting her over to a T-5 5spd.

Anyway, to answer your question about how she runs. She's dogged a LT-1 before, and my friends swear she'll keep up with our 99+ 4.6's.

Are all the RS Camaros V-6's? They do have dual exhaust. No wonder they never want to run me. I suspected they maybe were 6's but wasn't sure.

BTW, godd that you spanked the Z.

I would have been very irate if someone would mistake my car with a 6 cylinder....I mean if I was in that guy's shoes....I don't think anyone in there right mind would suspect my '69 to be a 6. LOUD dual exhaust...fairly lopey idle....huge 295/50s out back, skinnies in front....and the car shakes when it's idling....damn i can't wait to get my fastback running.....should be in about a week or so!

All RS's are V6, just more power than regular camaro 6 crap....those LS1's are a bastard though...I only have pullies and off road x-pipe on my 99 GT right now, and I'm still behind the game...my buddy drives a 98 Z-28, it's fast as hell, with just flowmaster mufflers, I almost bought one, but I hate driving those things...any tips on what bolt-on will push me past him???

I had "2.8" badges on my big block 79. I raced a guy in an older T/A. After I made him look silly he pulled up to me at the next stoplight and said "Thats no 2.8!!" I thought that the rumbling exhaust might have gave it away but as they say, there is a new one born every minute!

Jason- Get some 4.10 gears and some sticky tires and a timing adjuster, and leave that LS1 in the dust.
