WTF are you talking about?   I've never heard of any such thing.

Ok, let me get this straight: A guy you know purchased a Cobra R for $52,000, then he put a supercharger on it????????? What kind of S/C? How did he mount it? ...... Wait, why would anyone with such a rare and already a collectors car MODIFIY it?

I'm not try to start anything with you, Marqui, but are you sure you know what you're talking about?

I'm wondering the same thing. Both of your posts are a bit off.

For street cars at the track not running slicks, MPH is the best indicator of vehicle potential.

It does sound like your buddy bought a 2000 Cobra R, but those didn't come with a supercharger. Having a supercharged one would be bad-@ss.

I never said I knew it was an R Version. You said the R was rated at 385. The car he has says 385 on the side, you know, where you normally see the 5.0 on 5.0s.It also has a number, like 271 on the back. He said that was the Production number or something.I was asking questions and stating what I knew.I KNOW it's a Mustang, NOT sure about the Year,if 02 or 03. I KNOW it is S/C, NOT sure if that is factory. I KNOW it has the numbers on it as I stated.I KNOW the price he payed. He DID bye it NEW about 3 months ago.So what is it? ps: I KNOW it goes 12.30's. I don't remember Mph, I think about 114.:)

Sounds like it could be a Saleen. Not too shabby either.;)

86 Grand Marqui 07-25-2002 02:35 PM

Ok,You know better than I. I only saw it 1 time, the day he got it.I have seen Time Slips, but the car only 1 time. Those are such a special car that each has its own number?:)

302 LX Eric 07-25-2002 03:42 PM

Yes, Saleen's are 'numbered' cars, if you will. Just like Skyman's is #406 for his year.

Sounds like it may be a Saleen - could easily be the S/C 281 model.

Actually there is a true 2000 Cobra R with a blower on it running around. I raced against him at the Virgina FFW race last month in the qualifying arounds. His passes against me were a 12.27 @ 124.32 and 12.08 @ 120 on street tires.

Also for any doubters of the 03 Cobra's there is one locally that recently dynoed at 500RWHP with bolt-ons and tuning.

Makes sense to me.:) So consistent 12.30's at about 114 is right? And that 281 number must be the other Number I saw on the back and the 385 number was on the side near the door jam Middle Fender location. You know where I mean. ps: He gets Good tires and that 12.27 could be an 11.27,or better.:)

If it's all motor then yes that is about right. If it's blown then he better demand a refund.

The Cobra R didn't come with any badging like that. It's actually a 331 not a 281. It does make 385HP in stock form so it's possible this guy just slapped on some decals or emblems for whatever reason.

Yeah I'm aware of that I've done some drag racing in my days...124 MPH is good enough for 10.70's with the right driver.
