Spanked a Viper on the way home from the track!
I went to the strip to get in a last blast of the year, and also to test out the new Holley intake and electric water pump drive. The track was so busy that I only made 2 passes, one on motor and one on the hose.
First pass I air the ET's down to 13 psi, and do a short 2nd gear burnout. I hold the R's at 4000 and dump the clutch. I get a stumble, and then a dead hook and i'm off. 60 feet went by in 1.74 seconds, I shift cleanly @ 5800 RPM and run 12.34 @ 112.66!!! SWEET! A NEW BEST!! Now time for the nitrous pass. I launch again at 4000 RPM and get the same freakin' stumble. I 60 foot 1.72 seconds, and run another personal best of 11.34 @ 125.06!!! I can only attribute the stumble to a bad O2 sensor. It is jerking alot at freeway speed and my Autometer A/F gauge is sitting still. No movement. I don't think a bad O2 will cost me power though. I do think I should have had better short times though. Now on the way home I am cruising on the freeway and a GTS Viper merges a couple hundred feet ahead. I fly up next to him to see a grin on his face and his wife getting all excited and cheering. We both tease each other with a courtesy throttle mash and then slow to the meat of my 3rd gear. I let him take the jump and then I floor it, and proceed to hand him his a$$. By the top of 3rd he was already somewhere by my rear bumper. By the top of 4th I can see him in my rearview mirror! Thanks, I did not get to see the look on his face because he stayed behind me after we raced. I'm not sure about where all of you guys are from, but there are quite a few Vipers around here. I think i've had 2 or 3 try to start a race with me.
Those cars are freakin' awesome. |

Good runs!
I went to the dirt hole(lapeer) today for one last time. I went a new best of 11.18 @ 122.59 on a 1.45 60' on motor and went 10.47 @ 133.88 on a 1.48 60' on the sauce. More in the car on the hose, but the track was cold and couldn't hold the grunt of it out of the hole. Sounds like it was busy Saturday for you..it was PACKED today! 200+ cars I'd bet. |

Awesome runs at the track and the Viper kill was wonderful as well. Were you on the juice for the Viper or was it all motor?
