SS saw my tail lights
Just got my car back out of the shop from getting final tunes done on the engine today. So of course I felt like playing and ever so much more since my dad flew up here to see me(I wanted to show him what my new engine was made of). Anyway I was driving around to get my first 100 miles on the new engine(Had to do the 100 mile flush oil change). I saw this red SS coming up in the lane next to me and when he got close I hit it a few times. He stayed next to me so I knew he wanted some. We then got to the light and he got me on the start for about 40 feet then it was all over. I pulled to about a 3 car length by the time I hit the end of 2nd gear. After he realized he was beat and beat bad he let off and so did I. At the next light he rolled down the window and said just one word. D@mn! He gave me a thumbs up and we both pulled away from the light nice and easy since the was nothing else to prove!

My mechanic said it was safe to get on it a bit. Believe me I did not even go over 5000 rpm. The 347 block is the way to go. It is so fast it scares me just going in a straight line. The old hp numbers are from the old block. Have not dynoed the new motor. Finaly have some pics of the motor and my car. I had to use my old mass air box because the cold air would no line up without doing a bunch of fabricating. My mechanic was tired of seeing my car and said he was done with it. It wore him out!

Was able to hook up my cold air that did not line up before this morning. WOW! With this and my combo I can really tell the difference. There is a guy that was in the shop when my mechanic was putting my engine in (he has a 2001 corvette with a 100 shot) And he heard my engine then saw my mechanic take it for a spin and he said that there is no way he would even race me. He actually was afraid of losing. Heck I figured he would spank me. But anyway maybe someday I might meet up with him at a light.

I had the exact thing happen to me the night I took the car out with our new 347.(Mare of the Month-August) The local bad LS1 with a stroker in it followed us towards home at midnight and challenged us. He wouldnt challenge a new car in front of the racer crowd. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/rolleyes.gif We spanked his *** good. Three different times and our car had a stock aod in it and his was a standard. When I got home i felt good about the kill but felt bad for the car. Poor baby. Well I had a scare. Started driving down the road and I heard this awful noise....sounded like lifter about to shoot out of my engine or something to that affect. I said to myself dang just blew my new engine from getting on it too much. I really said a different word. Anyway, I pulled over and lifted the hood. All it was is the metal line coming out from the header. It must have been creased and caused it to leak real bad.(it broke in 2) I went every where to find this little pipe and no one has it. I guess I will have someone make me one up in the A.M. The bad part about it it discolored my valve cover http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/frown.gif

My old combo was with a 80 shot. And it was 374 hp no joke> My new combo should be at least 400 at the wheels. I am keeping it N/A for now until I save enought for a big thumper turbo. I should be getting 700 at the wheels then. I have never took it to the strip yet. Will do so when I am all finished with my motor. My exhuast leak I had yesterday fried a plug wire. Capped off the egr and header for now. Cant find anyone to fab me a new tube. Spent 8 hrs looking around town for some help---no one wanted to even touch it. Need a flex high heat metal line. Anyone know where to find one?

I beleive that, my friends carbed 347 is probaly close to 390hp at the wheels n/a, hey do you know if your mechanic "butterfy cut" the pistons to work with that 2040 cam?

I think Marty is funny as heck. He has a good way of making me laugh. Camaro Guy the cobra is only like one tenth slower in the quater mile and the 0-60 speeds are dead even. They are both fun cars to drive. Personally I think the Stang looks better and is priced lower. Oh yea and it does not blow rear ends every 30000 miles. But it is up to the person which one they want. Someday Ford will mass produce a lage cubic inch engine in the stang which will kick a$$. As far as his education (Marty) Lay off unless you want to start a fued that will not stop. And if you happen to need my education backround it is none of your bussiness. Put it this way--I am an engineer manager for a multi-billion dollar corp. The new Cobras will hang with any stock camaro---Yes a stock Cobra will. With the right driver in either car it could go one way or the other. I have no beef with anyone on the board so do not think I am lashing out at you.
