i would think it would have to depend on your gear ratio and also if you have an automatic or 5 speed. the automatic will kick down but the manual you have to know what your rpm's will be and pick the right gear. you wouldn't want it to be at a speed that has your rpm's too low. with 3.73's and doing rolling starts from around 4000 rpm's works out to 25 in 1st, 45in 2nd and 65 in 3rd. go to the analyzer and put in your gear ratio and tire size and it will give you the rpms for each gear and mph from 1st to 5th. i would think that around 3500-4000 rpms would be good rpm's to do rolling starts

i have a t-5 and 3.08 gears, and 225/60r-15 tires

in first 25-30 mph put you at 3500-4000 rpm's and in second 45-50 put you in same range.

I've gone to 2nd gear at 35-40mph, with 3.27gears and a t-5, same tire size, and have made many of kills, a coulple i remember another mustang, and a couple eclipses.

So when i get 3.73 i know i might miss these granma gears jusst a little.

I have dropped to 3rd at 70mph, but i think that put me too high on the tach, about 5500 rpm.

As was mentioned, you will want to start from your torque peak or right around there. For your car, probably at 3500 RPM or slightly below would be good. Pick the gear to get you at that RPM and go from there.
