Red face There she blows

Was on my way back from the local Pharmacy and this guy in a primer chevelle wants to go. I wasn't feeling too well I have pnemonia. But he would not stop messing with me. So I said I am tired of him. So at the next light We get it. I got him real bad off the line. I am on motor no bottle. And at the end of second I heard a loud popping noise----very loud. I slowed dowm and waved him on. Now my car is soooo slow have no idea what is wrong. My mechanic is away racing so I can not take it to him. Any Ideas. I did loose the race by the way no excuses from me.

There is a bad sound coming from the engine now--like a tapping noise. On the passanger side under the valve cover. Valve maybe? I have no clue. Man I just spent like 8 thousand on her I am sooo mad.

I don't know dude, but that mechanic better step up on this. Either he got some faulty parts, or he has no idea what he's doing.

Question

hmm, after I ran mine hard a couple times after sticking the complete rebuilt engine it with all the mods I also heard this unusal clicking sound under the passenger side valve cover but I can figure out what it is, but my car seems unusaly slow for all the mods that I have. My best time has been a 14.2, with the mods I have I thought I would have hit low 13's or high 12's.

First time I ran mine really hard after new roller rockers, the lock screws on the polylocks came loose on a couple of valves and allowed the rocker to come off the push rod. Fortunately, nothing was really hurt, but it sounded awful. Those lock screws have to be cinched down pretty tight I found out. Hope it's something as easy for you. Don't run it with that noise or it will probably ruin something.

Thank You rev! I was kinda thinking in that direction. The whole maniflod needs to be talen off just to get the valve cover off.
