Three stoplights in a row with a S351

Ok, so I'm cruisin down a fairly empty highway a couple weeks ago and see a new style silver stang come rollin up in my rearview. I see that it has a different hood, and a chin spoiler so it gets my attention. Well, it does a fly by after he see's my car, and I notice that not only is it a Saleen, its a REAL supercharged S351 (495hp). Wasnt sure at first, but I heard the blower, and it just looked perfect, and it had a middle aged guy (only way to afford a $70k car) driving.

Well I figure since he did the flyby, he would be willing for a race from the stoplight that we pulled up to. I get a jump out of the hole and notice that he didnt even go! So I slowed down, and motioned for him to go when he pulled next to me, NOTHING.

We get the next stoplight, and I pop the trunk, and tell my friend to jump out and turn the bottle on, so he does. Now the Saleen driver is completely against racing me because he found out i had nitrous. But then he goes on to brag that he's got 495hp. Some more talking, and he still didn't want to go, and even said to me that "You'd get me"

Well even if that was true, it would still have been a fun race. But no, I get 3 perfect stoplights with no traffic right in a row, and he doesn't even give it a blip of the throttle.

How often do you even see a S351 in person, let alone get 3 stoplights with one? This was a chance in a lifetime, and it just had to be some self indulgent weiner with too much bloody money!

Just had to vent. Maybe he'll show up at the track soon, haha, yeah right.

Damn, that sucks! What a wuss. I run into so many people like that. It frustrates the crap out of me! All of these fast cars that cost big bucks...& there usually being driven by older men (& often women) that don't even have a clue what they really have under the hood, let alone want to race. They just buy the car to get chicks I guess...or as a materialistic item to show off to the neighbors.

Yeah if I had a 70,000 dollar car racing from stoplights is exactly what I would do with it

Street racing is really unsafe in a 500 HP car he would be going a 100 mph in a blink of an eye.

It sounds to me like this guy busted his @ss and bought his dream car. I dont blame him for not wanting to race it on the street.

This guy was not a wussy or a weiner. He was a mature adult with an awesome car.

The one thing that really irritated me is the "self indulgent" part.

Because he can afford an awesome sports car but doesnt race it on the street yall think he has a problem?

I'm not gonna get into a flame war over this. The fact is he DID fly by me on the street trying to show what he's got. So its not a street racing issue. And I dont care how powerful a car is, street racing in general is not safe, and I don't condone it, but sometimes I just can't help myself. Can you sit there and tell me that you've never played around on an open road with another powerful car?

And the self indulgent part is a quote from Gone in 60seconds, it was the part where Randall Raynes was in the Ferarri dealership. So dont get all uptite.

I didn't post this so I can be lectured on street racing, go to the corral if you want to do that.

there are 2 s351 in ogden ut and one has Nitrous. it is so freaken fast.. his dad is one rich man. he has a really bad Porsche and a 355M. he races everything with all of the cars. I beat the 351 with Nitrous. that is just cause I have ET streets on my car all the time. so it isnt really fair. but still its a win right. it is yellow with a black hood. He wants to go from a role but Im not dumb. I agree with Dark_50. I wouldnt race everything in it But that doesnt make me an @ss............... But that doesnt make Fiveohpatrol a 4th grader. He was just venting. I hate it when people wont race me. it pisses me the F#%k off....!!! Brad

There is a guy down the street that has one. He blew the engine and sent it out and got it turned into a 393. Every time that car goes by I about bust one.

I may make the trip down at least once this year. I'll be racing at Norwalk on May 9th with the Central Ohio F-body Association at their private test and tune. Nice guys that put on a good race event.

BTW, I'm adding a few parts to the Mustang over the next couple of weeks, including:

- Bogart D-10's
- 275/50/R15 drag radials w/ MT sportsman's up front
- Wilwood brakes up front
- Swapping out my 3.55 for 3.73s
- Auburn Pro
- Moroso trick drag springs at all four corners
- Strange 10-way adjustable shocks/struts

I'm hoping to go 12.40's @ 111+ with the new combo!!!

Okay Eric what good is a pic going to do? Really? I have some work done to my car that you cant see. is it going to say 347 stroker on the hood? would that make you happy? that isnt what I have but thats what a picture can do. Have you ever beat a car that should have beat you? thats all that I was saying. did I say that I killed it as for the pic I will get one of that and my supra. I just dont have a camera but I can get one for you sweet pea.

Why are you so defensive? I've never challenged that you don't have this car, I just would really like to see it. If you're beating S351s and the like, you must have one heck of a setup - I'd just like to see it.

So, yeah, please get a camera and take a picture of it.

I have a PA aod trans with a 2600 stall, 4.10s, the E303, roush 200 heads. notched pistons so they would fit. and an NOS 125 dry shot and I role with the MT ET streets. thats the combo. Im buying a DSS 306 in a month. so then it might be as fast mabie faster then my supra on the freeway. but it will be close that is my combo

well i agree with both sides. i street race when it is safe.
and have bumbed some people out .
my brother has a tricked out porsche that he wont race because he has rolled a car but will let me race with him in the copilot seat.

and as far as posting pics I got a camera but still cant figure out how to do it even though i can rebuild my own engine my son's probable could help me i can post one at a time but havent figured out multiple pics.

my Dads friend has a sallen that added the vortech and he wont come to the track to race and wont street race even though i dont care who wins i try to tell him he 's got a fabulous car.

maybe it wasnt his car ???
