275s on an 8" rim might be pushing it - that's almost 11" of rubber, so I would stick to a 255 at most. I tried 255s on stock 7" 10-holes on my '87 and it just wore the middle of the tire out, even with slightly reduced pressure, so you might run into this with 275s on 8". Not to mention it didn't help my hookup because the contact patch was actually smaller than with a narrower tire.
