Post Tired of getting beat by Z-28's. 351 time

I need more torque and HP. I have a 1990 LX 5.0 in good shape but engine is getting tired and I'd like to drop in a new 351 so as to be on par with Z-28's. anyone do this? How much might it cost? Is there a 351 to compete with the Z's?

Ummm...If your goal is to be able to beat Z28's the 302 is well capable of that just cause a 351 has more displacemnt doesnt mean it would be a bad *** out the box.

but to each his own.

When you start talking about engine building there are endless possibilities and combos you can choose any number of ways to achieve your goal.

You say you want a 351 so you will be on par with Z28's.

I have a friend that has a 289 and he is on par with vipers.

Hell ricers are running 11's all motor now.
If I were you I would just build up that 302.

What ever you choose good luck ! There are lots of mean 351 crate engines out there

My opinion would to be just rebuild your 302. Its alot less $$$..
Try boring it to a 306, TF TW heads, TF TH intake, E cam, Forged Pistons, 150 shot of nitrous and you will never have to worry bout those z' again. That is unless they are built up too

Cool

Why do you think you'd need those extra cubes to compete - many, like myself have been routinely stomping LT1's, LS1's, etc for years w/ our 302's. Dropping in a 351 isn't a bad idea, but don't say that you need it to compete.

EXACTLY WHAT HE SAID, I would think that combo would have you in the 11's. Good luck.
