New Best for N/A Cobra = 12.18 @ 113.06 MPH
Launched of my 7600 rpm rev-limiter and got the following:
60ft.- 1.60 1/8mile - 7.75 @ 88.88 MPH 1/4mile - 12.18 @ 113.06 MPH There is more in it because I accidently shifted into 2nd gear at 5500 rpm!!! I couldn't reproduce another because the humidity shot up out of nowhere and I ran a bunch of 12.2's instead. I need to get rid of these FMS C springs and put some drag springs with an airbag in there. With a high 1.5x 60ft., I know 11's will be in the bag. Just in case anyone was wondering, this was thru the stock motor, IMRC's and all. I haven't gotten my new intake yet. Later, Jason ------------------ N/A 1997 Cobra 1/8 mile - 7.75 @ 88.88 MPH Best MPH - 90.08 1/4 mile - 12.18 @ 113.06 MPH Best MPH - 114.02 1.60 60 ft. |

Damn IM so jelous of that 113mph trap! Ive been wishing for 110 for so long, and I'm still so damn far away.
What RWHP did your car dyno? It seems that my 330rwhp + 3400lb weight should net a better MPH than 107. I just dont get it. I thought the dyno was off, but cars went in right before and after me and pulled off very normal numbers. (GT40P headed 5.0 277rwhp, and 99 C5 296rwhp). Anyways, congrats on the awesome running car.. Maybe some day I can join you in the 11's if my motor deciedes to come around. I dynoed 298 rwhp and 294 rwtq.
Race Weight is 3290-3300 lbs. Weather has alot to do with the trap speeds, although, it was pretty humid out when I did this. Don't give up, it will come around!!! Back last summer, when I was busting my balls trying to get into the 12's, I wanted to give up and take the easy way out with nitrous or a blower. But, I persisted and look where I am at with a stock motor. Its just all about how to get the car to work at the strip. What do you have done to the car.
I mean everthing. My brothers 97 put 305 to the wheels but the best we can get out of it is 106. this is long tubes with cat back ,pullys, 4:10's timing adjuster and Maf The car is kinna heavy it's been 11.80@116 with a 100 shot on nittos. we tried ET streets but they bogged the car down to much on the shifts( 26" to tall with too much drop off). ------------------ A.K.A. The LS1 Eater http://members.aol.com/jeauxmoe/index.html 5.0 lx,performer heads, GT-40 intake,JBA headers, stock cam and TB to name a few. 12.3@111.7 w/a 1.70 60ft 13.002 @109.8 on street tires w/a 1.96* 60 ft. Update 11.89@115 1.63 60ft on a small shot of gas. Now it's unnaturall 10psi from an S-trim= 12.0's @122 on street tires and pump gas. |

Your brother needs a 4.30+ gear, preferably 4.56's, and he needs to launch above 6500 rpms. Make sure he is shifting at 7000 rpms on every shift!!! I plan on running 150 shot of NOS myself later this year. I don't see 10's being a problem.
Alright, here is the lowdown on my car. Power: 298 rwhp @ 6300 rpm 294 rwtq @ 4900 rpm LaRocca's Dynotuned Autologic Chip 24 degrees total timing 13.3 A/F ratio BBK Longtube Headers, Offroad H, MAC Flowpaths welded into stock pipes, WMS Velocity Tube, Pro-M 87mm MAF, Steeda Pulleys, Steeda Timing Adjuster, the rest of the motor is stock from TB to Oilpan Driveline: FRPP Billet Steel Flywheel, McLeod Kevlar Disc, FRPP HD Pressure Plate, Steeda Firewall Adjuster, Tremec T-45, Steeda Tri-Ax Shifter, FRPP Aluminum Driveshaft, FRPP 4.56 gears, TracTech C-Locker, Moser 31 spline Axles, T/A Cover, Axle Tubes Welded Suspension: Tokico 5-way Adjustable Drag Struts and Stock Rear Shocks, HPM Megabite Jr. Lower Control Arms and Stock Uppers, FMS "C" springs Wheels/Tires: Front - Weld ProStars 15x3.5, Pepboy 165/15 radials, 3.5" ARP wheel studs Rear - Weld ProStars 15x10, Mickey Thompson ET Drag 26x10 slicks, 3" Moroso wheel studs Weight Reduction/Removal: Front Swaybar, Passenger Seat, MLR RearSeat Delete, Spare/Jack, Wipers/Antenna Race Weight(Guesstimate) = 3290-3300 lbs. with me in the car. I change the oil, plugs, and fuel filter every 1000-1500 miles. Can you say OVERKILL??? Not bad for a car that dynoed less than 300. After the tune though, it holds the peaks for alot longer than the average N/A Cobra. I don't know if my low dyno numbers are because of the billet steel flywheel or because of driveline friction from having the entire rear built the day of my dynotune. All I know is that the tune does its job at the track, where it counts. I don't powershift, PERIOD. If I had a trailer, I might try it, but I like being able to drive home after a day at the strip. And I don't consider myself that great of a driver, but I do hit every gear as fast as possible and with authority. Its not my daily driver anymore, but can easily be driven anywhere. Lauching at 7600 rpms is awesome to say the least!!! The stock tach looks buried just a hair off of 8000. If anyone desires to launch this high, I suggest a C-Locker, because last month I blew apart a 31 spline Trac-loc in 10 passes. Sorry for the long post. I hope this answers any questions. The cars are very similar.
the only dif's are the 4:10's ,chip (will be going to get a JMS chip done soon) and the has road race 5 way's. I really think it should put out 109-110 like it sits (read as heavy as it sits). He has gone to the shorties (from the BBK long tubes)and gotten the cat back since the dyno but has not been to the track. I wonder if the NOS kinna made the motor a little tired (maybe some craked ring lands). ------------------ A.K.A. Man that is a fast car that must be fun to be able to rip of low 12's all day. Sound like all of your parts mesh together really well. You launch at 7600 man thats cool! "SWEET CAR MAN" I think about launching my car at 5000 sometimes. But I have noticed that fox body axles break alot

Nice time....congrats. That's a pretty high rpm launch, wow! I launch alot easier than that.....but it's different for every car/driver....it's whatever you're comfortable w/ and what your car can handle.
