Default track times again...

I ran at the track again today. The temp was in the upper 80's, and the humidity was not terrible. I learned today that when ET Streets have no lines left in them, they are junk.
My 60 ft's were in the 1.9's when they used to be in the 1.5's when the tires were good.
Anyway, I ran 11.6-11.9 all day, and trapped a best of 124.96 mph. (I can call that 125 right???) before having the car tuned I ran a best mph of 123, but only once. Most of the previous passes were 121-122. Today they were all 124's.
Boost was 8 psi in the heat of the day, but EARLY this morning it was about 60 degrees and it made 11 psi through every gear.
I also could not run with the hose. I could not get jets in time. So I guess with some new ET Streets, I should have my first 10 second pass, and maybe a mid 10 after the nitrous.

I assume that your liking the Novi 1000 But how did you see 11#?? I hope with a F150 crank pulley and a power pipe I'll see 8#. What is your set up?? I assume you have aftermaket heads, etc... I'm just wondering how you're seeing so much boost??

I have a basic heads/cam/intake 302. On these hot summer days I only see 8 psi, but on a cold morning I see 10-11. I started off seeing about 5 psi, then I had a smaller 2.75" blower pulley made by ASP, and saw 6.5-7 psi. Then I added a crank pulley from an Grand Marquis and that is where I am now. I have no powerpipe. Nobody makes one for the 1000 yet.
A guy down the street from me has a fairly stock 4.6 GT and he sees 13 psi with all the stock pulleys!

Thinking about it now, I should have spent the extra grand or so and got the 2000. I know the 2000 makes a lot more power at a given boost level than the 1000. But then again There are usually only one or two streetcars at the track turning 120+ traps when I go, so I should be happy to run what I do with what I have.

Exgmguy, your car is just sick. You're seeing awesome results with what seems to be a rather simple combo. I know you've got a lot of tuning time in it. It seems to be paying off!!!

Rob,

You need to get some new tires and things will be much better. In sept. if I make it out we'll have to line up. That race I had with Shawn was a blast. That was the best race I've had at the track in a long time.

That was one of the best days at the track I've had in a long time.

Detroit Speedworks did the chip and dyno tune for me. He found about 40 rwhp on the dyno. The chip also made the car much easier to drive. It used to have some part throttle bucking, and would never idle right.

125mph out of a 306 and a Novi 1000..........unreal !! Paxton should put your car in the magazines for advertising what their "little" 1000 can do hehehe. Well done!

This is yet more proof that dyno tuning is well worth the investment. You mentioned picking up 40rwhp but I bet the torque gained across the entire rpm range was really impressive!

Hey Jeff, Long time no see!

The hp and tq were up throughout the rpm range. Not just peak. Like I said, it made the car so much more fun to drive.

Ex GM-

Please tell me that you at least have some stage 2 heads on that thing?

Very impressed!

I had Johnson motorsports burn me an autologic chip- but it was mail order... so i think that some dyno time is in order.

Time to load the car up and head to Larocca's.

I don't believe much in mail order "guess" chips. I guess they can get you in the ballpark, but every car acts a little differently, so without a dyno and a wideband, it is really just a shot in the dark.

My heads are TFS Twisted Wedge's that have a little porting done to them. The are opened up to a Fel-Pro 1262. Alternative Auto farms out all their head work to my friend who owns Modern Cylinder head in Clinton Twp, Mi. He did them up for me.

But I do have an E-303 cam, so the heads are not being used nearly to their full potential.
