Post Track Times!!! well, kinda.

Ok, I FINALLY had some spare time to get my car down to the track again, and here is what happened.

First off, about 5 miles from the track, I blew out my header gasket on the passenger side, while trying to pass a semi on the highway...oops!!

Now for the run. I ran on street tires, and had a great atmosphere. 75*, low humidity, and good traction. I launched good, and banged through the grats really good. Right as I powershifted into 4th, I heard a POP thud thud thud. I also lost immediate power. My first reaction was "blower broke" I was freakin, I immediately let off and coasted theough the traps at a (this is the funny part) 12.647@103.871 So I had a good run forming. A Damn good run. I was up around 105 when It broke prolly 300 feet after the 1/8 lights. I pulled into the pits and popped the hood, and had a GREAT relief when I saw that it was just my belt that snapped off.

Now for the wierd stuff. There was also a new GTS, ZO6 and a 99 Cobra with a 11# S-Trim running.

The Viper ran 13.2's all night, at get this....108, 110, and 111. Very dismal.

The ZO6 ran a pathetic 13.76@ 100

And the Cobra ran a 12.68@ 111 on slicks. pretty pathetic. There was also a 99 T/A that ran a 13.6@98.

I guess I will have to venture there again Friday.

Later

Could have been a good one. What was your 60' and 1/8 et/mph? 1/8 times will give you a good idea. 1/8et*1.57= 1/4 et and 1/8mph*1.27= 1/4 mph That will get you pretty close...almost right on when I break my times down that way.

Cool

That sucks - figures it happened on a time you get a chance to get to the track. Nice time though, all this considered. Next time you'll know better....don't mess around with those semis

My 60' was awesome for me. And my 1/8 was good too.

60'= 1.871
1/8 mi= 7.633@98.496

According to your calculations, that is about a 11.97@124

The 11.97 sounds realistic, but the 124 seems a bit high, but you never know...my 119 was run in 90* weather.

yup, you had yourself an 11 second pass there!!! A bunch of my 11.8-11.9's were with 1.95-1.90 60 ft's. You got, now you just gotta get it!

BTW, That header gasket would've popped at the track anyway. Gotta keep an eye on those header bolts.

And what was up with those other POS times? It just goes to show you that at the track DRIVING has everything to do with it. Cars like you posted above are the ones you read about getting beat by a bolt on car or something in a street race, and then the BS flag starts a' flyin'.

Kinda like 13 second cars beating sportbikes on the E-way.

Um, I believe those 13 second times for the Viper are perfectly normal and really quite good in fact for a stock one. Popular Mechanics did a drag race show down with the Viper winning with a 13.0something time. Same thing with the Vette. The Cobra seems to have some work done to it because it's running faster than stock 13s.

And what does it matter if they arive at 100mph or 120 mph. If they get there faster then what does speed have to do with it? If I run 13@100 mph and someone does 13.2@115 mph I still win.

Did your car sound meaner with the header gasket blown? Did you fix it before you ran?
