Am I the only person who thinks this is strange? This sounds like something right out of a wild-west movie. In my opinion, in the civilized world, you don't walk into someone's place of employment in the middle of the day simply to get a street race.

As far as the race goes, use the nitrous! That's what you bought it for!!!

Skyler

Down with the spray and slicks. C'mon, it's a street race!

He has a built V-8, you have a built V-8. Keep it clean and run him straight up just as you'd drive the car every minute of every day. Be a man about it and hold off using the silly-spray and competition track goodies for the track. After all, he's not using it.

It seems there's no honor in racing anymore. Win no matter what or how, win...win...win. I guess it's a sign of the times and my opinion's in the minority...so be it.

Flame away......

Well I say SPRAY HIS *** !!!!!!!! When I had the bottle on my car it was always full even when I went to the grocery store. :D If someone walks into where I work and did the same thing, I would even put the bigger jets in to make him looke even worse. Using bottle is not cheating, its simply run what ya brung. Ok, im through now.

hey Sky-

I would like to run you on street tires some time. I don't know if you ever come down to San Diego for the street races, but there are quite a few worth while guys for you to run. I have no chance against you on the slicks but I think on street tires we might have a fun race. Let me know if you ever make it down this way. BTW bitchen car.

Dean, you make it sound like slicks and the bottle are cheating. Seems to me that you don't get a reputation for being "the fastest" with a built 302 and street tires. If it were any other race, I'd say don't waste the time, but really.......

Sky, you know where I stand on this one. He wants a piece of the fastest car around, and well, that means THE FASTEST. I wouldn't call someone out and expect or hope they left some go fast goodies at home. If you were cruising and he challenged you, or hanging out at the habit, that would be one thing.

There is a reason he gave some lead time. Do you know why? Maybe he was waiting on a 100 shot to come in. Nobody really knows do they? I would show up ready to do it right, you can always ditch the bottle or the slicks if he starts bitching. But don't get caught with your a55 hanging out because he did something you don't know about.

What I mean is run him just as you would drive the car at all times....which means without the instant chemical HP. Run him the same way he's running you. Level playing field. Save the silly-spray for the track where anything goes. You can't have that much pride? Stage, then hammer it...no additives, no trickery, no track mode....just street mode like the regular joe-shmoe with a hot engine.

You're missing the entire point. If that's what he wanted, the guy wouldn't have gone into his work and called him out. He was asking for an all out go at it. You don't think he could have asked, "What time you get off, I'd like to see that car run today." If he did. None of this setting up a time crap.

Just because you don't approve of the juice, doesn't make it wrong. I don't like F-bodies, does that mean you shouldn't drive one?

That can be said about turbo cars too almost. When you race, you should use your daily boost amount. You dont' drive everyday with Xlbs of boost, so why would you turn it up to X when you drive it everyday at Ylbs of boost?

vetteeatr 11-12-2002 12:09 PM

well its sounds to me like its not gonna be anywhere near an easy race.

Im sure el caminos arent exactly light but as far as i know itll be completely stripped probally whip out some slicks and my guess is 100+ more horses then you maybe more...

You will have weight to your advantage though

So spray like nobodies business.

Also for all you know he could be lying about compression

I know a guy in this little town that has a 350 not stroked running on the street with around 500 RWHP so i would not underestimate anyone.

1969Mach1 11-12-2002 12:28 PM

Well sounds like a sweet race, I say spray and slicks. When racing there is no rules. Using the excuse of you had slicks and Nitrious is like saying you have 4 cyl. more then me. He came to you and wished to race, so he better be prepared for whatever you got. Show him what that ol' Ford's got. :D :D
