VR4 revs but no race
Why would you sit next to me at a light, rev and then do nothing when the green comes? Happened two lights in a row. It was a red VR4 with some guages on his pillar, couldn't tell what they were. I wanted to race one for a long time but never got a shot. He had aftermarket exhaust too, so he was not just into daily driving. I think he would have taken me if he had a few mods or tuned up turbo. If you rev, RACE!

I also hate when I rev and they dont look over or even give a sign they want to race but then take off when in full race mode when the light turns green! Boo!!!

Find him again and smoke him, stock vr4's can only cut around 2.0 60's which my car almost stock, and only 2wd could hit 1.9 on radials.

I can never even get the 3000GT/Stealths to do anything at all. Even if I rev they ignore me and don't do squat. Mine isn't even that fast. Maybe the Flows scare them. Mabe my car looks/sounds faster than it is?

I think import drivers are intimidated by the V8, so they can't rev back... it would sound like **** , right?

See, that's what I'm saying Lizard. He had exhaust work done AND looked like some pillar guages. Actually sounded alright. Oh well.

:90 lx coupe HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHA.....whhheeeewww....ok, ok...I need to wipe the tears of laughter from my eyes. Wow, that was some funny stuff there. Sorry you couldn't get the VR4 to race...it would've been a good match. But to Mr.90lxcoupe....you need to get those delusions of grandeur out of your head. Unless you're pumping out over 320-330 HP, a stock VR4 is going to take you. Now, if the guy had some aftermarket extra's, there's no telling what he's pushing out. All I know, is that I've never been taken by a Mustang in a VR4, that includes Cobra's, Saleen's, you name it. Of course, I'm not running stock, but what's the fun of owning a sports car, and not modding it, right? =0) VR4 Sleeper |

Kinda wondering what that VR-4 runs? A 3.0 Liter 4000 lb. car doesn't sound too quick to me. All I heard was a lot Haha..Bwoha crap. I'd like to hear numbers....real ones.

Depends on the years. The 1991-1996 or so were rated at 300hp. They ran high 13's with an excellent driver. Then they received a little upgrade that put them at 320hp. They are capable of a mid 13 pass in bone stock form. With a little more boost they can be real monsters. DSM's, especially when modded are not to be taken lightly.
As far as launching like **** , a lot of people bog them off the line. Even with a lot of power, their turbos don't appear to spool fast enough, so if you don't really know what you're doing you'll launch W/O boost. If the guy is good, he'll be launching with serious boost, 2.0? more like 1.6. They will take off out of the hole like an AWD Talon, only they'll be a hell of a lot harder to make ground up on. |

Ha...HA v8 killa, i embarresed a silver/grey vr4 on Ih-35 buddy, yea they got around 300hp or whatever, and my aunt has a 93, it's fast but heavy, i run 13.9, lets see, if i had AWD and mods on my stang what do you think i would run? yep, and my car is light!, vr4's better be good for something, because of how damn $expensive$ they are compared to a mustang.
Oh and sorry if im SOOO wrong about the 60ft times on vr4's i just heard it from a vr4 owner in the "txracing" racing site. And im sure the modded ones are sick cars, and you would smoke my azz, so dont come back flaming, since your in austin maybe you should come down to RCR track if you havent already, im sure you'll find a couple 9-12sec fox stangs that'll run your a$$, and put those "saleens and cobra" you raced to shame along with you. ------------------ 90 lx coupe: Mac cold air fenderwell, accel supercoil, advncd ignition,3-core radiatr, FMS alum D/S, Black magic fan, 3.27grs, 3chbr flows. V8Killa, I somehow overlooked your post. Without mods the VR4's are capable of hanging with a 5.0, maybe outrunning it by a little. The Mitsu's are tanks, and it shows after they get a real good launch.
I've raced a couple and beat them both with a near stock 88GT, and a near stock 87GT. From a roll at about 50mph. Like 90dpscoupe said, a 2.0 60ft time is totally believable from your average VR4 driver. They bog off the line horribly if the driver doesn't really know what he's doing. If they don't get the jump, outrunning the 5.0 on a 20-100 run isn't gonna happen by much if it does at all. Course if any 5.0 wants to really whoop *** on a VR4, race them best of 7, their AWD system will blow itself to pieces on the 4th launch. |

His pillar gauges were probably a clock and a battery voltage gauge!

Thnx unit, because i never said 1.8-2.0 was a good driver, the guy probaly couldnt launch for crap, and a 1.6 is totally beleivable.
