Wanna race a Camaro

My buddy has a 82 Z28, 350, edelbrock performer intake and 750 carb, hedman hedders, hedman y pipe , no cat, 3" mandrel bent exhaust. I dont know what kind of cam, it kinda seems like an RV cam but not sure. Turbo 350 tranny with stage 2 shift kit and 2500 stall and 3.42 with a posi. What do you think he will run in the 1/4 mile?

some ?'s for you

where are you at? and will your buddy be running on slicks. do he ever get his car dynoed? i am assuming that this is a trailer car, with the dump exhaust and no cats... am i right?

Im from Saskatchewan, Canada . The car has never been dynoed, he is racing on street tires, 275/60R15 to be exact. He has a flo-pro muffler, and his car is daily driven.and he has never been to the track.oh ya In saskatchewan you dont have to run cats;)
Hope this helps

No Cats?

Dang, what other EPA crap can you run without? I may have to move up there on principal alone!

actully I dont have one peice of emmissions crap on my car;)
Its nice, but keep in mind everything is double the price here compared to where you are.

vtec8ter 04-17-2002 06:12 AM

i would race, BUT

the simple fact of the matter is you are in canada. period. that is way too far for anyone to drive to race. thats cool that you dont have any emissions, here in the states we lower our cars so they get waived..:D :D :D nice trick to get out of emissions, huh?

The Deuce 04-17-2002 06:05 PM

vtec8ter, you are lucky. Out here there is NOTHING we can do to get out of emissions. The car has to pass a visual inspection, as well as pass actual emissions testing to pass. You can't legally change the mass air meter here, and cold air induction is sketchy. Swapping motors is totally out. If you put a modular motor in a '67, the car would be tested by motor year technically. It's pathetic. At least I can race on THE deadmans curve. Yeah, the one you won't come back from (Jan & Dean)

The camaro is an 82' so you dont have to have cats not even in the U.S.

It sounds like his car will run high 13's-low14's to me...

new info

My buddy just bought a comp cams XE 268 cam
I looked It up and the specs Are
Duration 268/280
Dur @ .050 224/230
lift .477/.480
I think this should make his car considerably faster. what do you think?
