Default Weight effecting 1/4 time?

I have a stock 2001 GT. I am wondering how, if at all, adding aprox. 200-250lbs to the car will effect quarter mile times. I've seen some calculators that estimate the time lost, but that's not real world experience. I am wondering if anybody here has had experience with adding 200-250lbs to a stock GT and how has it effected the cars performance. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

I never add weight, but often subtract weight when I run my car at the track.

If you can remove wt., then you can improve your ET, it's just that simple. Adding wt. could only help you if traction was a problem and you put extra wt. over the drive (rear) wheels.

Overall, a car will run faster et's with less weight. Really, a no brainer.

Default Maybe I should be clearer

I know haveing less weight will help my times, but what I am wondering is how much slower am I going to be by adding that weight. I am wondering if it is worth it or not to install some subs in the trunk.

If you're thinking 50 lbs. , then you may not see the difference. More than that, you might see a disadvantage.

Just my thoughts. You may have to choose between performance at the track (or steet) and sound performance.

I've always heard 100 lbs = .1 in the 1/4.... which is why I have my back seat removed... although the speaker box and amp almost make up the weight but I Can pull those at the track.

250lbs is an insanely heavy sub box. Less weight means faster, but more traction does as well, and adding weight to the rear of the car helps traction considerably. 100lbs dropped weight = ~.1 ET reduction, but .05 dropped 60' also = ~.1 reduction in ET. So if putting 100lbs in your trunk helps you to 60" .1 or more faster, you'll be actually quicker in the 1/4 with it. Follow me?

I think adding 250 lbs to a relatively low horsepower car is going to slow it down quite drastically. My car is around 200-300 lbs lighter than other Fox body stangs. And with comparable dyno numbers I am going sigificantly faster.

Most 3100 lb Stangs with 300 RWHP are trapping 107-108. My car weighs 2750-2800 and I trap 112-113 on motor with 309 RWHP.

Something to think about.
