A stock motored SD Fox body can hit 12's with nothing more than some weight reduction, gears, slicks, suspension, and a good driver.
It's not that far off to believe an additional 70hp, very low gearing and weight reduction could get a car into the low 12's with a 1.5sec 60ft.
Every tenth in the 60ft is good for 2 tenths at the big end. In other words, when a bone stock new GT pulling a 2.0 60ft can run a 13.8, doing nothing more than getting a 1.5 would put him at 12.8. Adding some more hp and gearing is likely to drop him down to low/mid 12's pretty quick. Now looking at the 12.1, it's a really tall call, moreso than what I initially thought, but I can't sit back and say it's impossible.
There are stock, I repeat STOCK engined DOHC Cobra's in the 11's at over 110mph.
