What should I expect in 1/4 mile?

Hi, I recently got a great deal on a 1973 Mach1 mustang. It is a q code (351 4 barrel) and is also Manual (which not to many are)

It has quite a bit of mods done to it.

Competion Cams
750 Double Pumper holly carb
4:11 gears
Posi rear end
Headers (Not sure what brand)
Custom made Exaust
Edebrock manifold/intake
MSD ignition

There may be more but that is all I can think of right now.

What kind of times should I be expecting?

Also, What if any weak points are there that I should upgrade?

16-17 second ETs or so........

:D Not really. I'd expect something in the mid-14s. I imagine you having traction problems without slicks and that torquey Cleveland. Plus the '73s are pretty big and a little on the heavy side. If you can drive the hell outta it and get a good launch I think a mid-14 is legit.....

I may be completely off though.......

I believe those engines make about the same hp as a new 4.6 does, 260....I think the torque was pretty high though, 290-300 lbs/ft. The heads on the Clevelands have huge vaves, like 2.05/1.66. You might get more than a mid-14 out of it......

13's should come easy, If you can get a good 60ft. Your mph at the end of the 1/4 will tell you alot about the power your car is making.

Good luck,

I can tell you exactly. If you burn the tires just enough, not too much, pull forward and light the first bulb, gently pull up until you barely light the secound. Now the big lights start dropping as the third light is comming on stomp the gas and get off the brake quickly, in a few sec pic up your slip on the return lane and no matter what is says, you can bet you will have just had the best time you ever had. That is what you will run.

"What should I expect in 1/4 mile? "

Going to have a few dead bugs on your windshield to clean off, you can expect that for sure.

A buddy of mine has a '70 Mach I with a built 351 Cleveland, built auto, headers, locker rear (I don't know gear ratio), etc. The previous owner ran a 13.03 on slicks.

I still think low to mid 14s with street tires. That thing is going to be a bear to drive. If you get slicks, on the other hand, like 20LbsBoost said, you should easily be deep into the 13s at sea level with a good tune.

Just clarifying that for myself...;)
