Default 351W Heads on a 87 302 Block

I was told I need to use the heads that came off the fuel injection 351W since I'm planning to stick with fuel injection. Is this true? I have a chance to purchase a set of rebuild 351W heads from a fuel injected F-150. Can I use these heads? Or does it even matter what year 351W heads I use? Will these head make more power than my stock E7 heads?

Thanks for any replies

the late model 351 heads are the same as what you have... if you want to pick up the performance, get a set of 70 351w heads, but they arent drilled for the air pump lines...

thanks for the warning, I guess I would have been wasting my time with these heads. Do you mean that these heads have the same castings as the E7?

I'm not sure of the exact year but I remember reading something about 74-76 351W heads flowing the same as the 69-70 and having smog ports in them. I'll try to find the book where I read it in, but do a search on early 351W heads, otherwise any Windsor style head out there would work.

351 also uses 1/2 inch head bolts, while the 302 uses 7/16 inch, so you need to get the adapter also. But i would also recommend that you only put those heads on a fairly modified 302. Remember, bigger isnt always better, its about port velocity, expect to lose some bottom end torque.
